Hello All! We will be leaving in about three weeks for a different kind of Disney trip. We are usually the ones in the front of the pack runnning to the thrill rides for early entry. Well I am post two level cervical fusion and can't do any of the thrill rides. We are looking forward to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, but does anyone have any suggestions for interesting things for a calmer Disney trip? It is just me and the DH this time so a little Romance would be great. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I think you'll have a great time in the non-commando style!

It seems like I remember that you can take a carriage ride somewhere on Disney property -- sorry, right now I can't remember where -- is it the Boardwalk area?

Also, where are you staying? Some pool relaxation time would be nice. Maybe you could try the spa at the GF.

You can just stroll around the parks, people-watch and take many Mickey Ice Cream breaks. How fun is that?

I'm not the world's best on thrill rides anyway (even though I like the Disney version of them), so I think a leisurely, laid back meander through the parks would be great -- go through shops you wouldn't normally stop for and eat in a sit-down restaurant and take your time!

Sorry, after all this rambling, I don't know if I helped any -- but I hope you have a great time!

One thing I loved on our last trip was walking along the Boardwalk at night, holding my honey's hand, taking in all the sights.

I'm also a sucker for walking around Epcot at night. Even when there are lots of people there, I feels so much calmer than during the day.

I would definately take the time to see all of the movies in the World Showcase. I love the movie in France, and I hear that the China movie has been updated.

There are some hammock on the beach by the Polynesian, big enough for two people. :D

Definately take time to see the things that sometimes get missed in the rush to the big thrills. You could print out a list of the Hidden Mickeys and go on a hunt. If you're parade people, you could stake out a good spot early and spend the downtime people watching and snacking on yummy stuff.

Have fun!!! :bounce: :bounce:

You're right, the movie in China has been updated.
And I think the carriage rides that were mentioned are at PO (although I could be wrong).

Besides the other good suggestions:
Minature golf might be interesting along with visits to the other resorts.
Ride the monorail. Rent a boat for a ride around Bay Lake or from PO to DD.
Ride the train on a round trip around MK.
Walk the nature trails at AK and look at all the animals that might not be visible right away when you walk by quickly.
Take a backstage tour.

You guys are GREAT! These are wonderful ideas, many of which would never had occurred to me on my own. Keep them coming if anyone has anymore, and thanks again!

How about taking the mk monorail ride at dusk and seeing if you can get in the front nose. I have done this and it is fantastic. It really calms you down. Take the Robert E. Lee around the water in MK. This is nice and slow. Get there a little early so that you can get to sit at the bow. The bear band review is a good show to catch. I like the music. Pecos Bill's restreaunt has ok hamburgers thinks like that. Take the train around MK. This is a fun ride. Its cool and coming into toontown is fun. You can go see the characters in toontown. Mikeys house mini's house and you are alittle walk to Tommorrow land where Cosmic Rays is. It has alot of different types of food and Ray is something else. Time Keeper might be open since they closed down AE and with a little luck COP will be open to. Well have fun. I know it is like I was facing a possible by pass worst conditions but passed with just a little plack. If it would have been the worst I would have had to postpone our December trip. To Bad Osborne lights won't be there this year I relly them this year.

Take a boat in the evening!! You can go resort hopping around the Seven Seas Lagoon/Bay Lake. Using the monorail and the boats you can get around to all. We usually have a snack or drink at the various hotels. Or you can go from POR, etc. to DTD. These boats rides (at night) are really romantic (plenty of privacy for smooching)!

Go to Fort Wilderness to the petting zoo. You can visit Cindy's white ponies. Or go to the campfire. Take a picnic and sit by the lake. Even for adults this is fun and relaxing.

How about a behind the magic tour at MK? We took this about five years ago and it sure gave us a different perspective on the magic. You'll find out things you never knew!!

Get an entertainment schedule at Epcot and make a plan. Entertainment you may have passed by on your quest to get to the next ride is yours for the watching!

Spend some time in the hot tub.

Get his and hers manicures at the GF spa.

Go listen to Blues at HOB or Salsa at Bongos! Watch the fantastic dancers at Atlantic Dance on the Boardwalk.

Pick a place at any of the parks and people watch. We especially like the plaza area near Rose & Crown or Toon Town in MK.

If you were park commandos...you are in for a treat. I guarantee that you will never go back to it...there is just something so special about strolling through any of the parks and appreciating their magic! Have fun!

DH & I are doing a trip in just 9 days to celebrate our 30th!! We aren't doing commanado style this time. You will love have a slower pace and just enjoying the atmoshere.
One of our favorite slow down treats is tea at the GF. The room is beautiful they stuff you full of little goodies, you can even have champagne with your tea, if you like.

Have a wonderful time!!

Don't forget the Tomorrow Land Trransit (the old WED way People mover). That is about as calm and peaceful as you can get.

Also the Carousel you can always just sit in a seat.

Festival of the Lion King; Tarzan Rocks; Flights of Wonder; shows like that, no impact!

How about low impact rides ... Small World, The boat ride in The Land; Ellen's Universe of Energy, The Great Movie Ride, Backlot Tour.

Have fun, relax, recover. WDW can be medicinal!!!
