Post something that proves you're over 30, or....

I could legally drink 3.2 beer in a bar at 18

I can relate to most of the stuff already posted. Here are a few of my own...

I remember my uncle doing his math homework at the dining room table and he used a slide rule.

I remember when digital watches cost a fortune.

I remember Don Cornelius was the original host of Soul Train.

I remember all of the words to the School House Rocks series.

I remember watching Sanford & Son with my grandfather on a big screen Black & White television.

Great thread! :bounce:

I remember watching Luke & Laura's wedding with friends after school. :teeth:

Maybe I missed reading this one, but I don't think anyone has mentioned watching the original Mickey Mouse Club.
My Barbie is one of the very early ones and then I got the head that you put on instead and it has three different wigs.
JFK and MLK both being killed.
I remember very little of Disneyland the year after it opened.
The Beatles first appearance on Sullivan.
Man circling the earth for the first time.
Moon parties the night they walked on the moon.
Poodle skirts when I was really little.
My mother was a rare bird because she had a JOB outside the home.
Buying our camping gear at an army surplus store instead of a trendy outdoor store.
Yo-yo and hula hoop the first time around.
Ironing your hair if it wasn't naturally straight, (My brother did this  )
Roots wasn't a clothing line. The only thing they made were those ugly earth shoes.

Even though I was only 4 I remember bits of JFK's funeral on tv. I remember playing pacman all night at the bar when I turned 21. Phone numbers had letters in them when I was growing up, and for entertainment we went to roller skating rinks.

My Mother had a Midge doll (ok, time for all of you to cringe)

For the record, she married very young and had children very young.....

I remember the ice cream man costing 25 cents.

School lunches were 25 cents as well

I remember the 'real' Michael Jackson

Three channels on our black and white TV. No remote control either, just that channel dial. And the stations went off the air between midnight and 1 am every night.

Bomb drills in school. Ducking under our desks and covering our heads with our hands in case the Russians dropped the A-Bomb on us.

Popsicles for a nickel, with two sticks.

Two sneakers were cool. White Chuck Taylors. Black Chuck Taylors.

Christmas decorations went up after Thanksgiving.

Etch-a-Sketch was high tech.

No seat belts.

Party lines.

Rexall stores with a soda fountain.

Polio vaccinations.

Ed Sullivan with Elvis. Ed Sullivan with the Beatles.

Crewcut wax. :)

Bernie, I'd forgotten the bomb drills! (Like you'd be safe under the desk!) I lived in Savannah during the Cuban missile crisis. We had to keep a rinsed bleach bottle full of water at school. We were supposed to take it with us if we were attacked; school children were to be loaded on trains and taken somewhere "safe". We eventually used the water when the out-door water fountains froze during the a rare freeze the following winter.

We took the polio vaccine orally on a sugar cube (3 doses a few weeks apart). Everyone, adults and children, went to the local schools to get it.

And I still have a smallpox vaccination scar on my left arm. (Hope I don't need a new one, )
