I want to carry as little as possible, and not on my back.
My 'normal' purse is a paisley quilted backpack because I need my hands free for work (I teach nutrition ed. programs all over my county and my hands are always full toting a lot of stuff everywhere.)
Between the two of us and our packs we have everything we need as well as personal comfort. Hey, that's what works for us...

Land's End diaper backpack! Our DD is out of diapers but this is still the ultimate travel backpack and we still use it. Just take out the changing pad from the back pocket and you can store maps or autograph books in it's place. It has bottle pockets on the sides, now we use it for water bottles and thermos funtainers instead of baby bottles.

I have this bag and use it as my regular purse. It holds so much more than one would think. I brought it with me to WDW even though I intended to use my Baggallini messenger bag. I ended up using this one all the time.

Now, I am looking for another bag. I think I may succumb to a fanny pack, though. Although I like my purse, I really do not like the feeling of a shoulder strap. That is also why I avoid backpacks and the messenger bag.

I am considering one of those hiking waist packs, but I am not sure which one. It is hard to find one that is big enough to take the essentials but not so big that you can pack a tent in it. I'll probably just end up using my purse again.

I found this bag (in red) at TJ MAXX for $20, so I thought I would try it. I haven't used it yet, but it is the perfect size, and I can wear it as either a backpack or a messager bag. I hope I love it as much as I think I will.

OK I am a sort of RUCKSACK guru if you will. I spent 10 years in the Army Infantry. I love back packs... Anyways ONE MAJOR thing to take into account when selecting ANY pack, is it's use. WDW as far as I know from my last trip in 2008, the security teams are still inspecting you bags, so I would stay away from the packs with smaller ziper pockets. There is a whole line of really nice packs out there availible from North Face that are made of a light rip stop material that is just what the doctor ordered. They are availible from REI,EMS, TNF.com etc.

For my last couple trips, I've been using this handy, dandy purse:

No, Lady did not come on the purse. It was originally just a plain, Tracker black purse but I had my crafty DSis sew on the Lady patch and, to my surprise, she sewed on the lettering of "and the Tramp" as well. This bag has been good for the little things i.e. money, KTTW cards, passport, hand sanitizer, etc but on my last trip, I found myself carrying around an additional totebag to keep my kanteen, snacks, and sunscreen in. So, after stumbling upon this thread and becoming obsessed at finding "the perfect bag" for the parks, I thought this little beauty seemed just what I was looking for:

Heys TravelMate! These bags seemed to strike a chord here on the DIS so I'm giving them a shot. There are so many compartments and even a spot for my kanteen/water bottle! We shall see how it fares on my next trip in November.....

I just got back on Friday. I over bag packed!!! Here's what I took: a vb mini hipster, Overland Donner & Baggallini large wallet bag.

I liked them all for different reasons! This was an adult only trip so I didn't need to haul other people's stuff.

The mini hipster is what I used the most and they were everywhere! I bought it on Ebay (new with tags for $20 including shipping) It was a perfect size for limited stuff that I carried. I had my phone (blackberry), camera (the size of a deck of cards), chapstick, money, 3 cards (room, ticket, credit card), a cheepo dollar store poncho (still in original small)package, a small pill box, small tube of sunscreen, mints, 2 packets of wet ones, pen, park map. I thought the tiny strap was going to bother my neck but it didn't at all.

Next I used the Overland Donner for days when I knew I wanted to take a better poncho and would buy more (small stuff). It was nice for having extra room. Had all the same things above but a disney type poncho (thicker - which I didn't need) a small umbrella, a water bottle, snacks. The pictures on Ebags makes it look boxy and stiff. I was neither of these. I didn't like the velcro though...too much RIPPPPPPP sound for me...I bought it for $21 including shipping from Ebay. It was used but didn't look like it. I thought the seat belt looking strap would bother me and even brought a cover thingy but never needed it. I liked using it in the airport and can put my netbook computer (vertically and not zipped) in it along with airline tickets, snacks, a book

Lastly, I used the Baggallini large wallet once at the parks and a couple times for dinner offsight. I like that one and even use it at home as my purse. It has a lot of compartments and I tend to forget which zipper I put my stuff in. The strap slips and doesn't stay in place for me. I'm short so when it's extended to the full length, it's too long for me. You could fit a larger than my mini camera in it but if it's overloaded, the strap bothers my neck. Bought it for $20 at TJMaxx. I like it, but for me, it's not for park touring.

I just realized this weekend that in addition to what I usually carry (in a small fanny pack), I also had to bring the rain coat (packable), a good sized case for my diabetic supplies, and I also want to have a small knitting project with me, as we'll be using Disney transportation almost exclusively (I hate to sit and do nothing, so I"ll knit instead!).

I REALLY like this bag so far, the over the shoulder strap is padded, and it's SO comfortable. And the strap is very easily adjustable, you can do it with just one hand!

So this is what i'll be taking - hopefully it will work out well!

I have a Baggallini Messenger Bagg and found it to be heavy and I could never find what I was looking for...too many pockets. Also, it was larger than what I really needed.

After reading this topic back in July, I found a Baglatinni large wallet at Marshal's for $20. It was perfect for me, much better than my teardrop shaped back saver bag. The only thing that I did not like was that the strap slipped & kept getting longer. Other than that it was great.

We always take a regular backpack.
It has worked for our familly of four and my husband is usually the one that hangs on to it all day.
We carry money, cards, bandaids, advil, wet wipes, camera with a zip lock baggie, sunscreen and
two spray water bottles because it would be too much to ask a brother and sister to share one.

SO on my first trip in MAy this year I took the Baggalini Urban backpack. I LOVED having it on my back but it was a pain to swing around every time I needed something (especially Fastpasses) - and when the bag gets full it's tough to navigate. I've been using it as a small purse but won't bring it back on my next trip.

SOMEWHERE I saw a bag that had a small zipper compartment on the strap but I don't remember where! I dont lug a lot of stuff, just camera phone etc but I want a small bag to take...I have 6 months to find one! I'll keep checking back
