Post pics of your bag you carry into park

While waiting for my Kipling bag, I checked my Marshalls and they did have just a few models - one handbag style andn one fanny-pack style, both reasonably priced. The first Kipling I ordered was the Fairfax, which has regular handles and the cross body strap. I love it! I think it will work well for the parks, just not crazy about the redundant handles. I also ended up getting my daughter a Lancelot and it is great also!! They are lightweight, very organized and have utilitarian pockets and cubbies, and the material is soft - not something that's going to scratch your neck or your arm or be uncomfortable if it's rubbing against you somewhere.

I have both the Kipling Eldorado and Lancelot. DD has the Vera Bradley Mini Hipster. I haven't been to Florida yet that is hasn't rained. The Kipling fabric is water resistant - a definite plus!

Anyone with a kipling bag and an overland donner? I've used the donner the last 4 trips or so, and really need a new bag - it's looking pretty worn, and I'm wondering how a kipling might compare?

Also, any pics would really be appreciated, if you don't mind sharing! :)

We bought this bag -- http://www.target.com/SwissGear-Vertical-Travel-Black-Grey/dp/B001QSYEJ8 -- for our WDW trip. I bought a bag because I have a black leather fanny pack that I love, but it's getting old and the plastic waist snap keeps falling open whenever I bend over or sit, which very much limits my fanny pack's usefulness!

We have begun calling the new bag the Swiss Army Tardis Bag, because it's a whole ton bigger on the inside than it looks. I guess most folks use this bag for their computers or whatever, but it's perfect for the two of us. It's actually called the Swiss Gear Vertical Boarding Bag.

We don't have children, but we will be carrying bags of nuts and beef jerky, two bottles of water, a digital camera, our cards (including the hotel key, DL, etc), maps of the parks, fast passes, and other paperwork -- and the bag is STILL big enough for extra batteries, our mini-dvd camcorder (and its extra battery and extra new dvd's), pens, some cash/change and a couple of ponchos on top of everything else, *and* if I wanted to, I could STILL put paper on the back of the bag (the back of the bag has pockets!) and an Ipod in the front. I won't do that, though, because stuff in the very front and very back would be a lot easier to steal.

The bag itself is a nice size, I'd guess about 10" tall, 6" wide (all the way open) and perhaps 8" across. It has one of those wide things with some soft fabric underneath on the strap, so that it won't cut into my neck. In color it's grey and black, with red accents here and there and the Swiss Army symbol on a small shiny enamel (probably, it could be painted metal) button right in the middle of the bag. It will easily fit in a small locker or to my side on a ride.

Tested it in the rain today and while I wouldn't call it water*proof* it was certainly water resistant.

I like the fact that I can lock the bag shut with a carabiner clip and also hook it to a belt loop on my pants, thereby making it secure if I go on a ride, and safe to deter theft.

The bag has a very long shoulder strap (I adjusted it all the way down to see how far it was, and it went to my knees while I was wearing it cross-body -- I'm 5'3" and, er, well-endowed! So it should fit just about anybody) and a carrying handle on the top.

I like the rugged materials, they seem pretty durable to me. Best of all, Target had it for a mere $20. And I don't mind matching, I'm not bringing a whole ton of dress-up clothes and my normal 'uniform' is a teeshirt and jeans, so the bag will fit in perfectly.

Went to a different TJ Maxx the other day and found 2 bags that I liked. Couldn't make up my mind which one to leave behind. So what's a girl to do? :confused3 Buy them both of course. ;)

I got a small bag for everyday, it's a Tiganello bag was $32 reg $69. 2nd one is made by Rossetti, it's a small cross body bag that will carry everything in my purse, plus my camera, and still has room for more. It was $12.99 reg $24.99.

DH also found a new wallet for himself.

This is the Tiganello I got it in red. Click on the red one and then click again to zoom in.

I have a Heys Travelmate that I purchased from QVC for around $20.
I have used it while in WDW and I love it!

I bought the same bag. I saw the posting and LOVED the travelmate. I got it around $22CAD so not sure what the conversion is. I tried to get the lime green one, but they were all out so I got the olive green one. It is amazing. Thank you for recommending it.:woohoo::woohoo:

OK, so after reading A LOT of this thread, I bought an Ameribag Healthy Back Bag in brown microsuede. I have road tested it for a few day trips and it is AWESOME! :goodvibes I bought the small size, which was perfect for me because in addition to the usual stuff, I am still carrying around stuff for my DS2 (a couple of pull-ups, wipes, an extra outfit...). If you don't have small children, I would suggest the extra-small size. Check out Sierra Trading Post for some good deals - I got my bag for $25!

Hello,
I just picked up this bag at Target...don't know why really, just have an addiction to bags. I can squeeze my mini netbook computer for a nice carry bag (not at the parks ) and it does have a lot of compartments and credit card slots. I have to decide if I want to keep it cuz I need it like a hole in the head....BUT I wanted to tell the OP that it is now $17.00 at target so if you have your receipt handy and you bought it recently--you don't have to take the bag in-- you can get a $3 credit or cash back. Not a lot but hey it adds up. It is a nice size for cameras even SLRs (I'm not taking my SLR but I checked to see if it fit) or camcorders, small snacks, digi camera. There's a pocket in back for a small water. Seems to be a nice bag but I haven't test driven it yet.

I confess, I haven't checked back through all 68 pages, but has anyone ever used the Vera Bradley Betsy bag for their park bag??? I'm thinking it may be just the right size to old my DSLR, an additional lens and my wallet, etc (although I do know it's not waterproof) ...

Can anyone share their experience with it??

After much reading, I ordered 3 different bags to check them out. I ordered the Bagallini Messenger, Mountainsmith Day, and Mountainsmith Tour. I also ordered the strappettes for the Mountainsmith bags to see how I'd like those. Last trip I carried the Overland Donner bag, which I LOVED, however, some new back issues have caused me to look into a different bag to carry since the Donner bag catches me in a bad spot on my neck.

The Mountainsmith bags are really cool, and I can totally see where you can carry everything you could possibly need. The Day and Tour appear to be exactly alike, but the Day is quite a bit larger. Definately sending the Day back because of it's large size. I am short (5'3"), and it's way too much bag for me. I am also sending the strappettes back because of my height. I can't get these shortened enough to where the load is bearing equal weight between my hips and shoulders. They straps seemed comfortable...but not something that is a quick get into I don't think. The padding on the back of these bags are really cushy. I am toying with keeping the Tour because the size is better, and I really do like it.

Definately keeping the Bagallini. Larger than the Overland Donner. The strap is wider, which feels more comfortable for me. Has an outside compartment on the side for a water bottle (Donner bag has a bigger compartment for water bottles), and the other for a cell phone. Also has a zippered back (Donner has a back compartment, but not zippered) It doesn't "flop" around as much when walking. The Donner is easier to pull to the front than the Bagallini though. You can flip the bag to the other shoulder to wear it more in the front though.

I wish I were one of those people who could go without a bag! I never knew there were so many things to consider when carrying a bag around! LOL

Thanks for posting about this bag--I headed out to Target after reading your post and bought one for our trip in three weeks. I think it will be perfect.

Have a great trip...and congrats on your upcoming wedding :)

I hate hauling stuff around, that's why I bring the DH! His denim shorts have nice cargo pockets and he has a cute (don't tell him I said that) little sport bag (his man purse, another thing I'm not supposed to say!) that he puts the camera in, it's small enough to easily hold in the palm of your hand, has a pocket for the camera, first aid, ponchos (the little travel ones from the dollar store) and holds a bottle of bubbles to blow (for those long waits in line!) The only thing I carry is my umbrella, keeps the sun off, and half the time DH holds that as well.. he really is too good to me... :rotfl:

I ordered a lime green baggalini and it got here a couple days. I sent it back the next day for a few reasons:

1. The nylon was HEAVY! I think I read the crinkle nylon isn't as bad.
2. The inside felt very plasticy.
3. The "lime" was NEON. If I was using it ONLY as a disney bag, I'd be ok with that, but it was just TOO bright for every day use.

I had gotten the Kipling Lancelot; carried for our trip and LOVED it! It was just the right size, had the perfect compartment for everything, was lightweight, he strap was easy to adjust in length and wasn't scratchy......been back a week and I'm still carrying it! It dried quickly when we got rained on, didn't stain when spilled on. One of the things I liked best was that the 2 primary inside compartments zipped closed (with easy to operate zippers) then there was a flap that snapped over those; I felt it was very secure.

I just ordered the Travelmate from ebags.com. It's only $20 right now and free shipping, so I decided, why not?

I have this one:

It's a little big for the parks, but It's great for using as a carry-on....I saw the one in your post at TjMaxx and it looked like the perfect size! I personally like using a drawstring bag or backpack for the parks, easier on your body--the weight's even on your shoulders
