Post pics of your bag you carry into park

I havew finally succumbed!! After following this thread for months, avidly looking at the pics, and convincing myself that my Bagallini small wallet bag and my DD's hand me down VB mini hipster were sufficient, I just ordered a new VB hipster and a VB mini wallet that I for sure didn't really need, but really wanted! In my defense, my Bagallni broke our first day at MK last year and so the strap is actually tied onto the metal ring--works OK but does not look chic. Of course, my DD says I do not look chic with a bag--any bag--worn cross body or--eek gads--as a fanny pack! If I can figure out how to post photos I will do so when I get the stuff. The "extra20" code helped.

We went to a ball game, so I had 2 waters (one inside, 1 outside), a light jacket for my son, my camera in its case, sunglass in the case, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, tissues, wipes, ID, money, and probably a few other things small things I'm forgetting. It was good. Not great, but better than others I've tried.
Most of the time, as expected, I wasn't comfortable wearing it on my back. Partially because I didn't like the strap going between "the girls", and partially because I was in a crowded ballpark and didn't want anyone to be able to get in it without me realizing it.
I still had room for more things if needed, though I don't think I'd want to weigh myself down too much. I definitely had issues with the straps slipping and not staying put where I adjusted them, but as I've read here, a few carefully placed Disney pins should alleviate that.
I'm giving it about a 3.5 out of 5.

The issue with "the girls" is exactly why I don't like a bag like this and prefer a small backpack. My favorite is the toddler-sized backpack that Children's Place has at the beginning of each school year. We have a few different ones from different years that are our park backpacks. DH & I each carry one of these which also helps to divide the weight. And it's obviously adjustable even though it's toddler-sized because my 6' tall DH carries it with no problem! But that wouldn't help with the issue of carrying it on your back. Most of the time, I have it slung over one shoulder, so it's sort of carried on one side, but still at the back.

I had the same issues with "the girls" which is why I sent the Baggalinni back. I hated it because other than that little problem I really liked the bag. After much searching I finally ordered this bag yesterday, I got free shipping with a code I found on the boards. I don't have a lot of info on it, I was able to google and found several for sale on Ebay (for much more than I paid) with pics of the inside. The outside zipper has organization pockets and a key fob, the inside is fairly deep with a zipper on the back wall. I mainly feel in love with the colors. I plan to decorate the front with Disney jibbitz. I will let you guys know how it turns out. :goodvibes

Awesome link, I might get some of those to use instead of ziplocs...

DH and I used Fanny Packs last year and the reason we are looking for a new bag is because towards the end of the trip our lower backs were hurting. They were very convienent though, easy to just wear on the rides and protect from water on splash mountain (and went in the middle waterproof protector thing on River Rapids) and they held all we needed. However, I decided for sure we wouldn't wear Fanny packs again when I saw our pics later and saw how silly DH looked wearing one! Any "nice" pic of us I might have framed was polluted by those awful things on our hips  (maybe other people just pull them off better than us!)

Oooh I hadn't thought about the pictures. that may change my mind!

Are the "sling bags" easy to take on the rides?

REAL easy! We either stored it in the netting provided or under the seat or else put a knee through the strap and tucked it behind our legs :thumbsup2

The only reason we aren't going to use our sling bag from last year is that I have a teardrop-shaped one that zips from top to bottom so I was always afraid that if the zipper broke or opened too much then everything could fall right out.

Here is my wonderful DH wearing both of our fanny packs (after my back was hurting too much to wear mine anymore).

And here he is at innoventions wearing my sling bag the next day. It was nice and carried a lot, but as I stated above I was always worried that the zipper would unzip all the way to the bottom and everything would fall out (as you can even see in the pic is is unzipping a bit).

I'm really considering the Baggalini since I liked the one-shoulder sling type bag... but it will be up to DH since I found out during our trip pictured above that DH ended up offering to wear the bag :)

I'm a less is more at the parks person but when I have to carry DD's autograph book, I need a bag.

I found this a year ago at Walmart for next to nothing. I wear it cross body and it fits me perfectly. It fits everything I usually put in my cargo pants pockets, plus several bottles of water and still has room for more.

Well, we went to Disney World from April 5th through the 10th and had a BLAST! Sore feet the first few days, but we adjusted. I'm ready to go back- I wish I could soon. :)

Anyway, I used my Heys Travelmate that I ordered from HSN on clearance, and I LOVED IT! It held plenty and never felt heavy. It was very comfortable, no strap slippage at all. The only two things that were minorly annoying were 1) The bag has a zip out water bottle holder. It fits the 16.9 oz. water bottles that we had shipped to our hotel. After a few days of using it, it seemed to stretch just a tad. So when you first put a full bottle in, it would fall out now and then while I was walking. Once I took a few sips of the water to shift the weight a bit, I had no more problems. 2) The padded strap was awesome, but now and then it would slip to my back if I was shifting the bag around a lot.

Other than those two things, I have nothing but praise for the bag. It has a waterproof zippered area inside that I put my phone and camera in during wet rides. But we got caught in a rain storm one afternoon, and while I was running to get out of it, I held the bag above my head to keep the rain from hitting me. Everything in the bag was bone dry. And it was pouring. I also had to hold it above me when the lines we were in would zig-zag out in the open during the rain. No problems at all. I wouldn't hesitate to take it with me again. It was small enough to fit into the pouches on almost all of the rides too. I give it a thumbs up!

I know that there are a few posters that like Vera Bradley bags - there is a new style (I think!) called a "mailbag". Has anyone seen it? I'm new to Vera Bradley, and wasn't sure how it would work for a park bag.

Thanks for any tips!

I looked at the Mailbag yesterday--its slightly larger than the Hipster, significantly smaller than the Messenger. I personally would choose the Mailbag for park touring.

Thanks for your input! I appreciate it.:goodvibes

Is the VB Mailbag a zip-only like the hipster and mini, or does it have a flap-over? I find the flaps not so easy for quickly taking out and putting stuff away.

I HATE the flaps! If only I could find a nice shoulder/cross body messenger style bag that didn't have the big stupid flap...

It has a zip closure and a magnetic flap--there is good picture on the QVC site--sorry I don't know how to upload pictures.

Here's what I plan to take.

blowfish-pack.jpg

It's a Camelback Blowfish. I have had this for years for cycling, and it finally dawned on me to use it as a small backpack for outings when I saw my SIL using a backpack about the same size. I "test drove" it last summer at Six Flags without the bladder (put a water bottle in the stroller cup holder). I will probably use it with the bladder at WDW & put iced tea in it since I gave up drinking soda. It should still have room for a P&S camera, wallet (although I may just take my license, credit card, and cash & leave the wallet at home), crackberry, mini-first aid kit, wipes, sanitizer, sunglass case, brush, sunscreen, mini-umbrella, and mini-fan. It has a zipper-expansion which adds a little more room if needed. Changes of clothes for the kids and a couple of backpacking towels will go in the stroller basket.

Thanks for the QVC site. It looks nice--although not much bigger than the hipster by the measurements given. I might take a chance on the flap since there is also a zipper but the 23" strap will not work across my pooh sized--short and wide--body. And the quest continues...

Does anyone have a new discount code for ebags.com? I am thinking about the baggallini messenger. Thanks in advance.

there's one somewhere for free shipping. However, you can get a better deal on the Baggallini (at least the RIP STOP nylon) @ Shoebuy.com
