Post pics of your bag you carry into park

I have looked at the Baggallini online so many times but just can't make up my mind. I would really like to try one in person before purchasing. In the pictures it looks like it will only hang in the back of you? I like my bag to hang on my side. Can anyone who has one please tell me if it will hang on your side?

Depending on how you adjust the strap, it could hang more towards your side. However, it's not really made to sit on your side so I don't think it would work too well for that. It looks a little strange in that position, too.

I know how you feel, I hate ordering online becuase I can't try it out. However, I always make sure to order with free shipping (if possible) from a place with free returns so I don't have to feel bad wasting shipping costs. ebags.com has free returns.

I purchased this bag at about this time last year on Disney's website. I got a really good deal on them - $12.99 each and free shipping - I couldn't pass it up! I am glad I got a good deal on them, because the quality is severely lacking - but because of what we did to them, they are now priceless - and even though they are falling apart on the inside, my daughters love them.

First off, here are a few photos of us carrying them inside the parks. I am a not-skinny 5'3" person. Pardon my grumpiness in the first photo, dh caught me off guard. :rolleyes1

Then my daughters carried the bags, as well. My oldest daughter is 11 and my youngest is 10. Both of them carried their bags themselves, and didn't complain about them being uncomfortable. Usually, they didn't carry anything in their bags, unless they took off their sweatshirts. I wanted the bags to be empty, because the purpose wasn't to carry anything, but I'll get to that later. Here are the promised photos:

Now, the purpose of these bags was not to make my daughters into pack mules... We decided that these would be their "autograph books". Their bags were signed by each character they met. The first few characters had "issues" signing on the bags - we had to encourage them and assure them that we really truly wanted them to write on the bags with sharpie. Once there were a few autographs on the bags, the characters no longer needed any encouragement. Here are a few photos of the nearly finished bags... I wish I had a good photo of the front of them - I may have to take one to post at a later date. :woohoo:

These bags now hang on their bedroom walls as the "ultimate souvinier"... they do use them for school bags occasionally - but not in the winter because the bags do not fit that much gear! I hope you enjoy, it was a lot of fun to watch the transformation of these bags... my girls even had "reserved sections" on them - youngest dd saved the front of her bag for the Pooh and Fairy characters - once they signed, she opened the front for anyone because she had run out of room everywhere else.

That is such a great idea! Man! Just when I thought I was done bag shopping :rotfl:

I have a bag similiar to those bags with Tinker Bell on it. I love it. Never thought of having characters sign it. Great Idea! :cheer2: Also, love your photos.

Thanks to everyone on this thread...

I read (almost) the whole thing last night and just ordered myself BOTH a Baggallini Messenger in Giraffe Print AND an Overland Donner bag.
I used the Spring20 discount code on shoebuy, then registered with them for an additional 10% off, so both bags came to about $80 tax inclided. I know there are less expensive Baggallini Messengers but I fell in love with the giraffe print and had to have it.
I plan to pretend pack for our trip to see which one I like better, then return the other one. Or I may just have to keep them both...
We'll see!

OK - so I got both bags. The donner is going back. I liked that it had 2 outer pockets (for water bottles/small umbrella) but with them packed, there is little room inside. And I hate the flappy tri-fold front closure.

I'm still not sold on the baggallini messenger either, though I like it more than the donner. It seems a bit flimsy, but I do live the giraffe print. I would have loved it if there was a way to swing it around and wear it in front, but I think it would look silly that way. :confused3

I dunno...maybe someday I'll invent the "perfect" park bag and sell it on e-bay to all of you. :rotfl: Because I still don't think this is "perfect. Close though...

Thanks for the info. Thats what I was afraid of - it not looking right on the side. I wonder how the Overland Donner is.

I actually have a bag that I love - it is a cheapie I bought at WalMart several years ago. I still carry it, but the zipper on one compartment broke and it is very hard to open that compartment. I try to put stuff in it that I don't need very often, but going through security is a hassle with it. I've looked for another one like it but I guess they don't make it anymore. It is made by EastSport. I wonder if you can get a zipper replaced somewhere - I am definitely not handy at that sort of thing.

I bought the Heys travel mate for my dd and she is planning on taking it on our upcoming trip. I think it will work well for her, but it too sits in the back.

I guess the bag search will continue.

I wear mine front ways............... It doesn't matter to me what it looks like. I can get to everything that way, and I know nobody is going to stick their hand in it.

I'm done with fanny packs as I've gotten older and larger (!), so bought the Baggaline in khaki the last time we went and really liked it. It felt and looked more like a purse, but was easier to swing to the front for rides, as well as get on and off. I'll be bringing it again this September. I wish I could find cargo shorts/capris, I might be tempted to load up the pockets instead, and try going purseless, but doubt that I can, with all that I like to have on hand.

I have a Baggalini Messenger and several smaller bags that I have used the past few trips. We have always gone in the summer. This year we will be going in December where the weather will be more unpredictable. I am thinking that we will need something to carry sweatshirts in and am thinking that we will need some type of backpack. We are also planning on dining at a few signature restaurants and with the crowds I am concerned about getting back to POP to change so we may bring a change of shirts with us just in case. I don't want to bring a huge, heavy backpack though. Any suggestions on something 'just big enough'? I will probably still have another bag with the camera, wallet, etc.

Yesterday i just received my jjcole logic bag and i think i am gonna love it...i love that i can unclip it from my back in one second...so easy, and a perfect size as we dont carry tons in the park...best thing is i can fit my "not so small camera" in it's own pocket...only problem, i got brown with some pink, and i pretty sure my dh will NOT carry it :lmao:...get to try it out in 17 sleeps :cool1:

I am with you on this problem. With the weather being so unpredictable I need a purse to accomodate it all;)

Well I let the time get away from me and didn't have time to order anything, but I just found a backpack at Target that I think will work really well!! :thumbsup2 It's a greatland women's backpack. http://www.target.com/Greatland-Backpack-Blue/dp/B000X1N43G The one in the store is labeled "women's backpack" and this isn't, but mine looks identical to it, but in a different color (they had light pink and a tealish blue). It's got a great little padded/insulated pocket up top that will be just right for a camera, though it's designed w/ a little portal for an IPOD. I like the way it latches on the sides to provide greater security for the main compartment. Also comes w/ a detachable wristlet in the main compartment, as well as a little case for an IPOD or cell phone on the shoulder strap. It's also a bit smaller and better shaped than your standard book bag type back pack, hence the "womens" designation! Oh, and in the first "big" zipper part there's a key fob attachment, an ID holder, pen pockets, etc...

I just found Sherpani Flora Mino at T.J Maxx for $24.00. I liked the fact that it has a compartment for a water bottle as well as a key holder to hook my wristlet on. It is very lightweight even tho it is padded. It is larger than the typical waist bag that I thought would be too small for camera and organizer.

My only concern is that it might cut into my neck since it does not have a pad on the shoulder. Was thinking I might have to make something out of fleece to wrap around it .

I have the sherpani switch http://sherpani.us/collection.aspx?GQd0EjaqX=2 I thought it would make a great bag for WDW, but just carrying it around home, it cut into my neck a lot - so I vetoed it. Don't get me wrong - it's a great sturdy bag, but very uncomfortable to carry for any length of time.

I went with the Vera Bradley Hipster - so much more comfortable and carries a little bit more.

D~

I was afraid it was going to cut into my neck. I pulled off a cushion shoulder strap from another bag I had and slipped it on and it is much better. I like the fact that mine is padded to protect my camera. I will be carrying an SLR so the hipster I think will be too small.

The other cool thing I found was the the Sherpani has an inside pouch for water bottles. I instead found it a perfect spot to put my telephoto lens in! So I think for now I am going with the Sherpani. I will carry it around this summer to make sure.

But ... I did take advantage of the sale on Vera Bradley hipsters.. 20.00 plus another 20% off. I purchased the hipster and matching wallet for $24.00.
The cargo bag looked nice as well. Only $30.00

Great sale if you have not been on the site lately.

just bought this one tonight....

Ive been trying on bags and have tried everything form $5 at WalMart to a $55 Baggalini. I stumbled on this at Lands End and loved it before I realized it was a diaper bag.
It has 2 outer pockets for bottles, a decent size main compartment (camera, etc), a front zip wallet area with a bungee key fob (great for ID's, etc), and a back pocket for maps or whatever.
The strap is long enough to wear as a sling or it could be a shoulder bag. And it's a simple black bag so DH can carry it too.
And I plan to attach my trading pins to either the strap or the bag itself.

I just got this in last week. I'm taking it on my trip next week.
I love the bag - its the perfect size for me - adjustable straps - two "bottle" holders - and very organized.
But - I'll still pack my small backpack in case some unforseen problems with carrying this bag. I'm excited about using though!
Thanks for posting it! :thumbsup2

I love the bags I'm seeing but I'm wondering what are the disadvantages of having a fanny pack? It's me and my DS12, I'm not going to have anyone to hold my bags while on the rides so I thought a waterproof fanny pack like this one would be good to hold small camera, snacks etc. (can't post url yet...but it's at waterproofcasesdotnet

What do you think?

How do those of you with bags handle the rides (especially the wet ones?) Is it hard to get on a ride with a fanny pack?

I was able to convince my DH to get me the bag I wanted. The only thing is that he thinks it's about $100 cheaper than I said it was. I could always try and get it off Ebay and get it cheaper. Here is a pic of it:

I too have a similar bag - I got that and another for less then $125.00 together at the Coach outlet store...I love them for when I go anyplace w/just my son. Both hands are free to hold his hand or pick him up if I need to quickly.

Awesome link, I might get some of those to use instead of ziplocs...

DH and I used Fanny Packs last year and the reason we are looking for a new bag is because towards the end of the trip our lower backs were hurting. They were very convienent though, easy to just wear on the rides and protect from water on splash mountain (and went in the middle waterproof protector thing on River Rapids) and they held all we needed. However, I decided for sure we wouldn't wear Fanny packs again when I saw our pics later and saw how silly DH looked wearing one! Any "nice" pic of us I might have framed was polluted by those awful things on our hips  (maybe other people just pull them off better than us!)
