I'm looking into getting a travel money card as i dont want to carry loads of money around.

I'm looking on the Post Office website and it says this...

Travel Money Card (TMC) is one of the easiest and safest ways of taking your money abroad. There's no purchase fee and it can be used in millions of shops and restaurants worldwide*.

Well im not sure how it can be used in shops etc as it has no chip on the card etc. Do you sign for your purchases instead?

Can some one enlighten me please?

I'd imagine that it has a chip and just doesn't show on the picture.

I'd be slightly put off by this though

*Transaction fees apply, Foreign exchange rates and charges will apply when using a Travel Money Card currency that differs to the currency of the country where the payment is made. You can use your card anywhere that accepts VISA Electron

I read that to say that transaction fee's apply EVERY time you use one in a shop

Its all so confusing:headache:

Could you not use the hotel id as a charge card and they pay if off at the end with a debit card? That way you could carry minimal cash (say £50) and then pay the rest at the end in one lump sum.

I guess i could but i know what i'm like. I think my best bet is to keep the money in the safe and then buy what i need on the last day.

Luckily all my meals except 1 are paid for and i'll use my debit card to pay for that.

:goodvibes That's exactly why we don't use ours as a charge card.

we have used one of these for the past few years and they are great. You pay a charge if you use at ATM to get cash out but if using in shops/restaurants you dont.

There is no chip but you sign each time

After looking at the tesco card i think i will probably get that one.

It has a chip and pin facility which is something i was really looking for.

We were told at the DCR that we couldn't use a debit card to get the charge card, only a Credit Card
