I'm so disgusted with them!!! Over TWO WEEKS ago I sent out my Christmas cards. TODAY I get my cousin's returned to me because I transposed two numbers (instead of putting 4142 I put 4241) in her address (street number). They took the time to correct the mistake but wouldn't deliver the card!! They put a sticker on "not deliverable as addressed" - yeah, right!!! They just didn't WANT to deliver it. Makes me SO MAD!! I mean, if I had a completely wrong address, as in street, town and state or something I can understand returning it to me, but when TWO stupid numbers were transposed?! COME ON, GIVE ME A FRICKIN' BREAK!!! SO STUPID!!! And WHY did it take TWO WEEKS to send it back to me? She only lives an hour away!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Were the numbers transcribed in the street address (house number) or in the zip code? If the former, I'd be very upset with the Post Office if they "corrected" the address I provided them, and delivered something without checking with me first about whether their suggested "correction" was what I intended. If what they corrected was the zip code, then I'd be a bit annoyed that they didn't just go ahead and delivered the item, based on the city and state I provided.

Wow! Sorry your card didn't get there. :( That's bizarre that they would make the correction for you but not deliver it. Maybe this is a good excuse to get together with your cousin over the holidays... that way you can deliver it in person :)

My dad's aunt sends me and my 2 sisters a Christmas card every year. Well, me and one of my sisters got ours about 2 weeks ago, while my other sister's hadn't shown up. She finally got it early this week...it had been sent to the wrong house 3 times before it finally got delivered to ours (there were little messages blacked out on the envelope that we could read through...).

And yet the price of stamps are increasing again.

I am about to do like Kramer did on Seinfeld and quit getting mail.

It actually may have been delivered to the wrong address as was on the envelope, which is probably why it took so long to get back to the post office. People have been known to not return an envelope to the post office for a long time, unfortunately. However, we've been told lately to go ahead and deliver it to the address if known. The carrier sounds like he/she was a bit too diligent in sending it back. They may have just had it in the wrong pile of forwards/returns. But, do keep in mind for the letters that get forwarded to a new address, if the recipient has been gone over 12 months, we have to return it, even with the new address on it.

I'm sure it was delivered to the address you provided. It is then up to the recipient to write on ot "Not for this address" and re-put in mailbox for re-delivery. This person may have taken a few days to get around to doing it, or maybe they were on vacation? :confused3

Then the postoffice has to return it to you, so it can take some time. It was your error, not the post office's.

One time, I addressed a card to a friend, with the correct address and zip code, but, the name of the town had changed in the past year. It was returned several weeks after Christmas, too late for me to resend it. The post office had put one of those labels with the correct address on it and returned it to me. It was nice to know the new town name, but, really.
