Post if Dollar rates are down...

I booked a full size this morning March 5th to March 15th $149.00 all in. Super stoked. But our friends are joing us us March 7 th to 15th. I cant get the deal for them. This is MCOpick up and drop off.

Hi Folks:

NOW - 02/12 at 10:02 AM. "CITY SPECIAL"

I just booked full size for wife 04/15 - 05/08 for 327.24 (8.99/day)

I also booked full size for me 04/16 - 05/08 for 313.83 (8.99/day)

I also booked a van 04/16 - 05/08 for 602.91 (19.49/day)

We may have other people coming as to why I booked the van, just in case.

I am cancelling the priors that I had at 9.71 per day. (see my previous post)

I also used AAA code (check the previous post from Shelly F. - Ohio above for the site).

Just booked a mid size 3/28 to 4/6 for $142 including all tax and fees with aaa. City special was $149. This is down about $260 from the costco rate I had. Thanks!!!!!

I hadn't even been able to find a Costco rate that cheap. The cheapest Costco rates for our eleven days (March 21-31) had been running $454.00-$484.00 for a midsize. I just used the city special and got a midsize for $163.00 (all fees and taxes) and a standard for $166.00 (again including all fees and taxes). What is the difference between Dollar's midsize and a standard? (I'm used to driving a full size crew cab Nissan Titan pickup:rotfl::rolleyes1)

WAHOO! Looks like Wednesday is the day to move!

I got our mini-van for a total of $217 for the week. Sigh a big sigh! I still might keep checking in to see if it goes lower. Last weeks mid-size was lower than this week, only by a few dollars, but hey...every dollar counts! :D

At 2:30 am est the Dollar rates are low. Just booked a full size all in for $111 and also reserved an SUV for $155 all in. Will decide later one I want for our March 3-8 trip.

Hope someone else is up in the middle of the night to snag this.

Shoot!! I checked about 1:30 then headed to bed.

Thank you!!!! Got an Altima for $114. Over $100 savings from the Corolla I booked with National

Our dates are 4/30-4/5

So...I started looking to see which mini-vans Dollar uses. EEK! The reviews for Orlando Dollar are so horrible! We have only used AVIS in the past, so I am curious...are they REALLY that much worse than everyone else? Any tricks to avoid their "scams"?

Good point! I got a price of $220 for a mini van 4/17-24, but I have to deal with pushy sales and dirty, poorly maintained cars, I may pass! :sad2:

I don't know about the "dirty, poorly maintained cars" as we have never had that problem, but as far as the "pushy sales", just practice saying NO! Seriously, that's all I do, they ask, I say no thank you (usually before they even finish their sentence), they ask, I repeat, they ask, I repeat etc. :thumbsup2

Rates down at Dollar for 4/17-4/27 - clicking the city special...

Old rate - $926 for 10 days....now 300!!!!! Woo hoo!

Love a good savings!

Good luck to all!

I HATE this though, b/c that means I will have to train hubby on how to talk with these people. I will not be driving the car, only he will, so he will have to do the actual transaction. But, let's just say he isn't super savvy when it comes to things like this. Kinda like the guy who goes into the grocery store to get milk, and comes out with 8 sacks full of cookies, chips, and fruit. He is aware that he this isn't his "thing", so I am sure he will have me up there. (Which leaves our 3 kids to manage behaving on their own...so we can pay attention!) I suppose I will just tell DH to say no to ALL extras, even if he questions it...and then double check the receipt when he starts to walk away, comparing it to our online rental agreement.

I can totally understand and relate, my kiddos are grown so I'm usually standing right next to my DH. Just try and fill him in on what you are getting ahead of time and tell him you don't need an upgrade (unless it's free of course), you don't need insurance, you don't need to pay for gas ahead of time so you don't have to worry about it on your way back, you don't need GPS, and so on (if I can think of any other questions I'll add to this later). ::yes::

Ive never had a problem with Dollar vans being dirty. We always get a minivan. But they do try to upsell a lot at the counter. You just have to tell him to practice "no, thank you" to everything. Even when they ask twice. It is their job. If they didnt ask, they would get fired, but they cant make you say yes! I am just happy my rate dropped $600 overnight!

On Monday (2/10) I booked a full size with dollar for $263 total for 7/24 to 8/2 2014. $146 per week and the two extra days at $20 per day. Over $100 cheaper than anything else I have found.

I think I can avoid that by joining their Dollar Express. But I have read reviews about the cars being dirty, oil light on, gas gauge not working, ect. I'm driving to and from Port Canaveral and would hate to break down on my way back to catch a flight. :faint:

Never experienced this before. If the car is dirty and poorly maintained get another one.

I just booked for Sunday April 6 through April 13 for $110. including all taxes and fees. (It was $61 before the fees) It's a mid-range car which they describe as an Avenger or similar. I also used the City Saver (or whatever it is they call it) :goodvibes

Good luck!
