When I meet people, it seems like they always have a nice, normal last name, like Williams or Morgan, or Davis. Not me though. When I was young, my maiden name was Bonnie Behmer (pronounced "Bee-mer", like BMW) and people used to always tease me about it. :guilty: I was always horrified to have to introduce myself in front of a group because I thought my last name was dorky. But I figured at least when I got married, maybe I could have a nice, normal last name.

Now my name is Bonnie Grizzle. (rhymes with fizzle). My students always laugh and call me Mrs. Frizzle (from Magic School Bus). And when people see my name in print, more often than not, they pronounce it "Grizzly",

Does anyone else have a dorky or unusual last name?

I don't. But I hate my middle name - Joy. Stephanie Joy. Blech.

My maiden name was Biggs. :sad2: Rhythms with pigs, my nickname all through grade school was Pigsie. I was thrilled to get a nice normal name after I married. I told my dh that if we ever get divorced I am keeping the name.

Yeah, you don't want to risk it. :thumbsup2

Well I HAD a nice normal maiden name.... Edwards.

I married a Kroeze. Now just try and pronounce that.

You quickly learn to answer to anything that remotely sounds close. :lmao:

By the way it is pronounced, cruise.

My last name doesn't rhyme with anything, but it's a very old Irish name, from Gaelic. I always have to spell it out for everybody.

I had an interesting last name--but nothing special.

My new last name is funny. I've gotten used to spelling it though it isn't necessary.

But when you hear "No I asked for you LAST name" about a bazillion times--that cuts down a lot when you spell it out for them.

ETA: Hubby is constantly being called by his last name. Some people go on auto-pilot and just don't realize they are doing it. We don't correct them unless it is necessary though. It's our own little private giggle.

(I don't post my name though--sorry!!!)

Okay--how the heck did they get that out of that spelling???

I married a Zello. People ask me how to spell it, I say just like Jello with a Z.

I sometimes get a giggle or smirk when people hear my last name...Seamons :confused3

There are MORE of us? Good to know! :goodvibes

I have an awful last name. It is very hard to pronounce....when I am waiting anywhere I listen for my first name(eg. Dr's office) if they pause...I know they want me.

My name (the way it is pronounced) rhymes with "Vole,Vou,.....,avec moi, 'cest swois" I can't spell ...sorry French Class was 30 years ago. But doesn't look like that when spelled out. And I think you all can figure out what I am trying to type. :rotfl:

Couture

not cootie
not couchie cooh

augh

the neat thing is that NOW I find nea hat boxes and such that have "Couture" written on them because of the fashion industry!

When I was younger I worked in a bank, and we had these customers "the Fuchs". One of the other tellers comes over to me...and whispers "how do you pronounce that"-she was thinking like replace the 'ch' with a 'k'(Fuc*s) sound.
Luckily when I was even younger we had customers at our hotel with the same name...and it was pronounced (rythming with pukes)...I bet they had lots of problems.

I had a normal common maiden name but then I got married and now my first and last name rhyme.

My middle name is Joyce and I don't like it either.

Nobody can beat my maiden name. Adolph Yes, I have gotten all the Hitler names you can imagine, in fact I tell people I will pay them $5 if they can come up with something I have not heard. I still have yet to pay anybody.

Now that I got maried I am Bassett. I've been married only a month and already have lost count of how many times Bassett Furniture has come up. I expected bassett hound more often but hey what can you do? :confused3 I'm just glad to be rid of Adolph :cheer2: :cheer2:

Married name Miller

Maiden name Vosper
