Do you think it’s worth upgrading your Southwest credit card to the top level that allows you to pick your seats at the time of booking. It would only be an additional $50.00 a year for me and I would receive a $75.00 Southwest credit and 7500, rather than 6000 points every year. We normally book on points so getting A Preferred status is never going to happen.

late summer travelers check your flights...surprisingly mine dropped 30k points over the weekend. My return flight is down to 4200 points. Knowing my luck I really figured I'd see a big drop after the 5/28 changes.

That is certainly the card to have imo since you get half of the annual fee back as a statement credit towards SW ends up making this card (Priority) only $6 more then the low end one (Plus).
You also receive 4,500 more points as well at your anniversary.

The question is have you earned a SW bonus in the last 24 months?
If yes then upgrade.
If no then I would close the account and reapply to pick up a welcome offer

I have had the Southwest card for years. I think I have a few months to wait to open a new card on the Chase 5-24 rule. Can you have 2 Southwest cards in your name at one time?

Not personal ones.
You can have a business one and a personal one though. This is how a lot of people qualify for the companion pass by opening both for the sign up bonuses.

Keep an eye out for upgrades through the southwest app. I originally had the middle card and got an offer through the app to upgrade to the priority card and got a a new signup bonus. It changed my middle card to the higher one, not just opened a new card.
