Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

3 of our next 4 flights are business select. It is much easier to not have to stress. I actually upgraded 2 of my flights today because it was cheaper. That 4th flight is too much to upgrade so I guess we probably will take what we get with our anytime. We got that flight too cheap and it is too expensive now.

No. My experience with Business Select tickets has always been that the CP needs to check in separately. The CP ticket doesn’t get any of the benefits of the attached ticket.
Business Select is different and SWA explicitly calls this out in various components of their website such as A-list, Companion, and more. With Business Select you're paying specifically for A1-A15 boarding positions.

For Companion Pass in particular it states "for Business Select fares, only the purchaser will receive an A1-A15 boarding position and the Companion will receive a boarding position based on whichever is applicable—time of check-in, A-List or A-List Preferred status, or EarlyBird Check-In®."

For those with a companion pass, does the Anytime fare EB also check in your CP?
Prior to SWA extending A-list benefits to people on the reservation you did have to purchase it separately for the Companion Pass member since they were given a different confirmation number. But these days all I could find on SWA's website with Companion Pass was about A-listers saying "If you purchased a Wanna Get Away®, Wanna Get Away Plus or an Anytime fare and either you or your Companion is an A-List or A-List Preferred Member, you will both receive reserved boarding positions." but that's using the status of A-list to check you in automatically.

Hopefully someone can chime in to say whether they had to purchase EBCI for just the Companion when they didn't have status but did purchase Anytime Fare.

Rough start to this trip. Arrived at BWI on Friday at 4:15 am for 6:10 am flight to MCO from terminal A. Boarded plane normally and things went down hill…after about 15 min of just sitting after boarding had been completed there was an announcement that plane would be leaving shortly than after another 15 min there was another announcement that the communication system between cockpit and outside technicians was not working and they were working on it. Meanwhile a woman passenger one row back across aisle had an anxiety attack and first flight attendants spoke with her and than the flight capt came out and spoke with her. Than emergency personnel came onto plane and escorted her off plane. Finally at 7:30 am the announcement came on telling everyone to gather their belongings and proceed to Terminal C gate 14! So go to opposite end of airport to last gate!…there was minimal communication during this entire process…quite a few people had connections including 36 passengers going to Aruba at this point no one could give them any info about their connections and we were already 2 hrs delayed….so we all made our way to new gate and had to line up again and wait 20 more minutes before someone finally came to podium and informed us they would begin re-boarding after crew prepared new plane for boarding…anyway it was after 11:00 am before we landed and another 45 min waiting for baggage. Original landing time was supposed to be 8:45 am so we were just minutes shy of the law requiring them to compensate passengers for delay. Forget the fact that we basically lost a day of vacation. Instead of arriving at resort by around 10:30 I didn’t arrive til 1:30 pm.🙁. Although the captain did announce that the flight for those continuing to Aruba would be held for them other passengers with connections were simply told to check boards when they got off planes and go directly to their gates without making any stops. The lack of communication was frustrating during this entire experience. Missed our reservation at Homecoming but they were very accommodating and were not charged penalty fees. I am still wondering why the issue with plane was not discovered before passengers were boarded in first place.

It's likely either they were boarding the plane while completing the last of the check items on the punch list for being cleared for flying or it was working but then failed. Either way it sucks. I wonder if the woman having the panic attack delayed things a bit as well, getting a passenger calmed down first is a big priority these days with not knowing how people are behaving.

Holding a plane is not super common, it does happen, but holding planes throws the entire schedule off so they have to be careful when they do it. It's easier to hold the plane for the last flight of the day especially if the plane is needed in that other airport for the next day.

Looking at the schedule there is only ONE flight today from MCO to Aruba. That's likely why they held that Aruba flight and others were left to check their own individual flights. Another flight from BWI to Aruba is an overnight flight stopping first in Chicago then Orlando and arriving early afternoon tomorrow in Aruba. Combined with that the two BWI to Aruba flights this morning both had the same connection flight from MCO to Aruba. SWA realistically no choice but to hold that Aruba flight or they would have had quite the domino effect for tomorrow.
So go to opposite end of airport to last gate!
Fortunately they were able to get a plane that quick and in relative speaking it was quick. Unfortunately they are going to have to take whichever gate is available. I hate having to rush real fast to make it to the other gate. Vegas is another hard connection point for that with B and C terminal.

Nice that Homecomin' was accommodating :) it certainly was out of your control

There is no law in the US requiring them to compensate passengers for any delay. It sounds like it was 135 minutes, you can write in to SW, maybe they'll throw some travel credit your way. For comparison I got $300 for an overnight delay from SW, $75 from AA for overnight and $37.50 from United for a delay over 8 hours.

Our last flight from MCO to Baltimore was delayed for a bit of time. Something to do with a storm in the area. There where 26 or so of us on this flight with the same connection flight to CLE. They held the plane for us. We did lose our A1 and A2 boarding spot and got the last 2 seats together (only because we were the first off the plane and made it from the last gate on one side to the last gate on the other before anyone else). Since we bought business select and were not able to board when we should have we were awarded some travel credits.

Yup they do hold the plane as I said it's just not super common as in passengers should be expecting it as a norm. I appreciate it when they can hold the plane which sometimes they are doing it so connecting passengers can get their luggage put on that plane if the prior flight was late but of course when you're waiting for those passengers or the luggage it can make those on the plane grumpy.

As far as travel credits eh personally I'm not in agreeance there. I totally understand booking that but you also got 12X the points (double of what WGA for example gets) per dollar if you booked via cash, free wifi, as well as other things like priority lane check in if you checked bags/needed your boarding pass, etc. More to the point in this particular case SWA held the plane for you, the alternative which is far more common, that you would have been put on the next available flight.

Anyone else anxiously waiting to see the new flight release times and cost tomorrow? I'm booking 3 seats and I'm hoping it's not outrageous. I think I am as concerned with the flight times as cost. They have significantly reduced their nonstop flights from my airport and return from Orlando. I explored other airlines, but when you start adding up the luggage costs, often it's not that great a deal. We will see......

Yes and no. It's a different Airside, but the same security checkpoint. When you get through security, for SW you go to the APM on the left, for Gate 85 you'd go to the APM on the right, that is usually used for Delta and Air Canada. If this is a late afternoon or evening flight, I would expect it to change to one of the normal gates between now and then. I haven't heard of SW using gates at the other Airside and I'm pretty sure something would have been said.

The.airside pod SW normally uses can't accept incoming international flights. Customs and immigration.
SW will sometimes use.gates in that pod for departing flights rather then having to move an empty plane to the other pod.

Check the displays or sites like flightaware for gate changes.

Edited to add something was said. Poster was informed of the gate on their BP.

Happened to me a couple of times. It's not as rare as you think. A few flights daily

The price was not terrible this morning for our late August flights. 92k points for the 3 of us. Last summer it started at 135k. There were 3 direct flights to choose from each way PVD-MCO. I'm still hoping for some price drops.

I didn't get any points for it since I used points to book it. The flight attendant on the first leg told me to ask so I did. I wasn't expecting anything. It wasn't a lot of travel funds but it was something.
