Tried doing this direct from phone each stay but said file was to big....so, tonight put them all to photo bucket and will make several posts.

Starting with site 153 at Copake KOA in Copake NY July 4th weekend. We stayed in this site before and really like it...grassy but shady with some trees and some sun. Perfect location as right near where they have professional exhibitor shoot off the fireworks show. If you turn the red chairs around in the first picture you are about 30 feet from the fences area inside of which the fireworks are shot off from (and they are shot off from say another 80 yards behind the fence).

Site 9 at White Pines Campground in Barkhamsted, CT. Not a very popular local weekend campground (apparently) as we were the only camper set up in our section of 15 sites. Only 2 or 3 others showed up as weekender in other sites. Site itself wasn't bad. It was a bit of a wet weekend, so that may have influenced occupancy, but was really empty, even for that IMO.

And finally site 632 at Lone Oak Campground in East Canaan, CT. We love this place. My 5th visit in the last 2 years. They are packed with activities for kids....nice pools....very well done theme weekends....this was for Christmas in July (complete with huge foam "snow" storm on huge tarp on a hill as a slip n slide type of thing. Local volunteer FD shows up with trucks to provide a continuous foam "snow storm for an hour".)

Pine Mountain RV Park in Pigeon Forge, TN. Site 54.

Nice place about a mile up from the strip. We are backed up to a nice stream. Big, landscaped sites with a huge concrete pad. Almost reminds me of the Fort... Almost.

It does....I got it about a month out this year on a cancellation....I booked before leaving this time. August 4-6 next year. They use sunrise reservation system for online reservations. Works good...pictures of the sites (when the site is available). Cancellations pop back up within a few minutes, so easy to check daily when close in to a booked full weekend. I booked site 587 for next year (been in it before), but might change again. I like staying in the open field grassy side, but the wooded area is nice too...I stayed in L7, but would get L14 to try if I could....nice combo of grass sun/shade. Anyway, boys love it there.

Did Ocean Lakes again. Went last week for a nice four day weekend. Here is what greeted us right after we arrived.

Nice looking rig and the rainbow is great. But, WOW, are those lanes narrow. No way could I get my 43 ft 5er in without cutting the grass and possible whacking that truck on the other side.

It's amazing the thought (or lack thereof) that goes into some campgrounds. They think about the size of site for the rigs coming in but not how they are going to get them on the site. As you pointed out...... Narrow lanes.

It is indeed tight. The place has over 800 camp sites but somehow everybody gets in OK. Our Vengeance is also 43' but we slid right in.

In all honesty, every site is a pull-through so its really no more difficult than backing into a spot at the Fort. Just like at the Fort, a lot has to do with how your neighbor has parked his car or truck at an adjacent site.

And I've stayed at Ocean Lakes once. And Pirateland, next door, once. It was a long time ago with a much shorter trailer. I don't remember it being that tight.

My ATV racing career came to an end last year. I have slowed down quite a bit. In the picture of the front of the Vengeance, you can see the back of our golf cart. That's about as fast as I get these days "off-road".

By the way. I got lucky today. Since I needed another camping fix between now and the Fort, I've been trying for several days for one of the weekends at Ocean Lakes in October. Supposedly they're doing a Halloween thing each weekend of October and the place is completely booked those weekends. Today I tried and hit a spot. Of the 800+ sites there, I got the site two spots up from where we were last week. Its in the picture with the rainbow two campers up on the left.

My ATV racing career came to an end last year. I have slowed down quite a bit.

How funny. I hung up my helmet last season too. SO much more time now and slowing down isn't a bad thing. I've spent more time camping in the last 12 months than I did in the 7 years before.

The race team also had a toy hauler about the same size as yours. We put a Miata in the back though.

And what we carried inside. And no, it's not an off road or rally car. This is the harmless result of a spin that started 4 corners earlier during a 6 hour enduro. All was well, we finished 2nd in class and 4th overall. That's me in the car and not our normal SM driver, Tom.

We raced 14 times per year. So basically it was 14 weekend camping trips and maybe one "fun trip" somewhere. But that was it. Not enough money and not enough time.

But this year, we've been to Ocean Lakes twice, a Jellystone Park in Tabor City, NC and three lake trips. Going back to Ocean Lakes in October and then the Fort in December. We haven't been to DW since 2008 and that's because we started racing in 2010. Got a lot of catching up to do on family time. The money I got from selling the quad paid for the golf cart.

I know exactly what you mean. 14 times a year is probably similar to what we did. We were at a track 1-2 times a month from March through October and from Utah/Colorado to Virginia and Wisconsin/Minnesota/Michigan to Atlanta. Each race weekend would be from 2-4 races (usually 3), plus practice and qualifying... And we had 3 cars to keep going. The Miata was my team mates car for Spec Miata races, but we also ran it in enduros (3 to12 hr races). My "regular" car was a Mustang. My other team mate had newer Mustang. And by "Mustang", that's in body only. The class we ran in said we couldn't alter the floorpan and we had to run the factory roof. Everything else has been modified or is custom race stuff. This pic is from Heartland Park Topeka a couple of years ago. My car is on the right.
