Post 09 AAA rates here

I don't think so. I was told by the CM that I spoke with that if you book your room using your AAA discount, you cannot turn that into a package which means you cannot add the dining plan - only your tickets.

If you want the dining plan and room you can't use your AAA discount. We ended up booking everything through AAA so that we could get the room discount, dining plan and tickets.

If you want to get a package with a AAA discount on the room, you need to book it with a AAA travel agent. You can't get this through disney. So you can get a package with dining and tickets and a room discount, just need to book it in a different manner.

What is AAA's cancelation policy. I've never used them before and we are thinking of getting the dining plan. I would have gone with Small World but they can't do the dining plan. If you get your tickets with AAA are they the ones that are on your room card or is it a seperate ticket? Is the dining plan on the ticket as well. I'm sorry if these are repeated questions. I couldn't find anything and my head is swimming :scared: with all these things to consider. TIA :flower3:

The cancellation policy is disney's policy, not AAA's. With a package, you need to have it paid in full 45 days before the vacation. If you cancel after that there is some penalty.
If you get a package from AAA the tickets and dining credits will all be coded with your room key. Even if you don't get a package, and get separate tickets from AAA, when you check in you can have them added to your room key.

I booked thru AAA and got CSR (9 nights), June 18 - 27, 2009, Deluxe Dining Plan, 6 day MYW tickets for $3400. Oh, this is for one adult and one junior, since DD is 13. We may fly in on June 17 and just stay at Pop Century for the one night - gotta wait for SWA to release their flights for next summer!

Try someone other than SWA. You can't check in your bags at the hotel for the Magical Express. We're flying Air Tran this time around to accomodate that, but the $69 fares certainly helped as well.

I called Sunday to see if AAA was out for standard view at YC - CM said none available - but Garden View was available with AAA-hmmmm. So, I booked a package with Standard View and DP.

I just called back and again was told no AAA Standard View rooms, BUT, this time she said they haven't released them yet. For YC, they are only releasing AAA rates on GV Club and Water View rooms. So, I asked when the Standard View rooms would be releases and she said 12/19 - WHAT - the package has to be paid in full 12/5!!! The CM didn't seem very knowledgeable, but still think something odd is going on. When I look at all of these posts, looks like most of the folks who got a AAA discount at the Deluxes had something other than the standard view.

Hi Everyone....

I was a bit bummed the other day when I tried to book a room at the CR with a tower bay view room and they said no AAA room only discouts (Jan 26-Feb 1). I really wanted a package with dining this time. So I booked through them a package for a bay view room, 7 day tickets (no extras) with Deluxe Dining for (2 adults, 14 year old, 9 year old, 2 year old) with insurance and the total came to....$5126.83.

I crunched my numbers with the dining and I would be saving $600.00 adding the Deluxe Dining compared to out of pocket. I know, I know....my kids love the sit down breakfast and dinner....and we are Italian....so I don't think I need to say anymore :rotfl2: Anyhows...I wasn't too bummed out at that point.

I then did try to contact a AAA agent through the website for a package from them...my only worry was if a Code came out for a package in the future they wouldn't be able to use it if it was a better deal. Anyhows....it took them 2 days to get back to me....with way different things I wanted. Thought ok no big deal.

Then I was talking to someone on the boards (thank you again!!!)....and she gave me the name of a AAA agent who ALSO looks out for the codes and WILL apply them if it's a better offer!!!!!

I immediately emailed her late last night....I woke up to an email from her and....I was so excited.

They aren't offerring the bay rooms for a AAA discount BUT she did say the Magic Kingdom View Rooms in the tower were offerring a discount!!!!! She priced it and the package was CHEAPER and I'm saving about $400 more and I can see the CASTLE.....lol can you tell I'm excited now!

Anyhows....sorry for the long post but wanted everyone to see.....if you keep trying....you may get what you wanted or at least paying a little less. If anyone wants her name...just PM me, and I will give it to you.

Happy Planning.....

Just added the AAA discount to my existing room reservation at WL for 1st week of May 09.

Woods View room went from 310 per night to 279 per night. 10%. Not great, but not bad either.

What exactly is it about deluxes that people pay $279 PER NIGHT? For any budget, big or small, that is a ridiculous amt of money. That includes just the hotel, correct, no tickets, food or anything? I have learned one thing about Disney, you truly are not in the room a lot. I have eaten at the WL, it is nice, perhaps very nice but not $279 PER NIGHT NICE. Just wondering for those who pay this, what exactly do you get, other than a beautiful place? I know the values are clean and perhaps not beautiful, but you could honestly go on another family vacation including Disney for the price you pay for WL @ $279 PER NIGHT. IMO, and this is just my opinion, the only difference between staying at the value vs. deluxe for the whole entire trip, is the place you sleep, it is not like you stay at the WL the entire trip............please help me understand. I am not bragging nor trying to sound better than anyone but I can afford $310 per night without blinking, I just cannot justify it, hubby agrees. I travel the USA a lot, I go at least 6 times a year all over the USA, the reason I can do this, is one, we only work 3 12 hour shifts a week, so we get a lot of time off every year, two, I book hotels that are clean and reputable and splurge on meals and length of time .......the only place I splurge on "luxury" is the Riviera Maya, one does have to be very careful in Mexico on where you stay, i.e. meals/water etc. I always wonder when I go to Vegas every year, why do people pay $300+ PER NIGHT to stay at the Bellagio/Ceasers/Wynn? I visit them often while we are there and they are truly wonderful, beautiful places but the restaurants and coffee shops inside are ridiculously priced, not only do they get you on the cost per night but to eat and drink onsite is absolutely a crime, and all places are not like this. We stayed at the Golden Nugget the last two years, this hotel is downtown, right on Freemont, we do rent a vehichle, the pool is UNBELIEVABLE, the rooms are very very nice, the hotel is very glamorous inside and very safe with multiple restaurants and bars and a decent price, the room is literally a fraction of the price of these big places, I mean 1/4th the price.........I spend the extra money on eating good, renting a car instead of taking the bus, going to shows and etc.............my friend went to Vegas, same as us, she was stubborn and had to stay at the Bellagio, she didnt rent a car, said she was right in the middle of the action, well the action gets boring and you eventually want to drive around, go to the desert, Hoover Dam and etc, so she paid big bucks for cabs, she LOVED our pool in the Golden Nugget, its open year round, for those who never seen it, its an aquarium with huge sharks and water falls, its 3 stories high, with cabannas, etc.......it also has a slide, see thru that goes right through the aquarium, looking like your swimming with the huge sharks.....its very very nice. To make a story short, she regretted staying at the Bellagio and now books the Golden Nugget with a car......just wondering why people stay at deluxes paying $279+ PER NIGHT?.......I read these posts and families save for a year or years for a Disney vacation...................is it people think they get more from the Deluxe? I have stayed at the POLY my second Disney trip, nice but the POFQ and CBR were just as nice, I seen no difference, especially for the price.......ASMu, definately a difference but now I know after 5 trips, we are NEVER in the room, so value it is and occasionally the Mods when there is Free Dining or special promotions........................anyone agree or disagree?

I think everyone is different -- We would not be happy in a value, so we don't stay there. The deluxes have more amenities than we need, so we don't generally stay there. A value would ruin my vacation -- it could be that a mod would ruin someone else's.

People stay where the amenities are they want, at or below the price they can afford. If someone wants to stay deluxe because that is what makes them happy, then they should!

That's what I love about vacations, they really can be personal. We stay onsite at UO, because the amenities there make us happy. The rooms are not inexpensive, but we would not be happy offsite.

You couldn't pay me to stay in the Golden Nugget, I do not consider that section of Vegas safe -- but that's just me. I'm glad you love it there and enjoy vacationing that way. I'll be at the other end of the strip at the MGM, because that makes me happy.

I think the "why" is very subjective. As long as you are happy, be grateful there's less competition for the rooms you want since not everyone wants to stay there :)

I would never pay you to stay at the Golden Nugget either............:rotfl: :rotfl: "Vacationing that way", excussssssssssssse me!!! No hotel could ever "make me happy". Your either happy or your not, nothing can "make you happy". I think I understand now, some people are buying "happiness". I prefer to be happy all year round and enjoy a hotel! I will make sure "our kind" does not bother "your kind" next time we are in Vegas, but then again, as a security specialist, you know best about Vegas and it's safety . I could seriously be happy in a tent with my family! As long as I am with my family, I cannot think of anything that would ever "ruin" my vacation, ever. I can honestly say, I never had a bad time when with my family on vacation, sure things go wrong, but we laugh at them and go on and find the good in any problems that arise, as long as everyone is safe and healthy. When you travel a lot, you have to prepare for mishaps, plane delays, hotels not what you thought, rooms not ready, we were pick pocketed one year in Universal, took over an hour to get everything reprinted but it sure is funny now and the kids still tell the story to everyone. My vacation was never ruined.....sad to hear a value would ruin yours........wow! But like you said, families are different, my son is used to traveling so things don't bother him, he knows my big thing is cleanliness and safety.....We have been lucky thus far, p.s. I am eternally gratefull to you..........I owe you big time for allowing the roach motel to be available to me when your there at the MGM, thank you again! I am not faulting anyone for staying at the Deluxe, just wondering what they think they are getting for paying so much...........if your answer is, "because I like it", so be it, it is your answer, looks like I touched a nerve above. As for the Golden Nugget in Vegas, above would never stay there because of safety and not ever like "vacationing that way", perhaps she should put out a safety alert to the Sapranos Staff, Denzell Washington, and the entire Hawaiann Tropic International team that were there when I was, everyone should know about the safety downtown, please share your horrible experience with us.

Forgop - Thanks for suggesting trying Airtran! We usually fly SWA because they have direct flights, but if I could get $69 fares, that would be GREAT! I'm going to check them out!

Yay!! Just booked the WDW portion of our honeymoon next summer. Got a AAA rate for Poly Garden View. 5 nights came to $1697.35 which was $339.47 a night. Saved $300 with the 15 % off rate.

Now just have to wait for AP rates to see if I can do even better....

Can you little by little pay off a AAA package like you can with Dreams Unlimited and booking directly through Disney? I am getting ready to call a AAA agent to book our August 2009 trip. :yay:

What exactly is it about deluxes that people pay $279 PER NIGHT? For any budget, big or small, that is a ridiculous amt of money. .anyone agree or disagree?

I can only speak for myself. I have stayed at Value and Deluxe at WDW. Last year we had Club (Concierge) level at AKL. I agree with your point to a degree. I would have no issue staying at a Value resort at WDW as they give you a great value for your money. We like the deluxe or club level on occassion as a treat. The hotels are more elaborate and have a higher level of service at the deluxe level, and for us, that is worth a few extra $$$. We take one nice vaction a year, and budget and save, so spending a few extar $$ is not an issue. Although I am a compulsive planner, some people take full advantage of Concierge services and have them do a lot of the "work" for them. As I have 4 kids, the club lounges are great for us..I do not think your "comparision" of deluxe vs non-deluxe is an equitable comparison, as they are two different products.

Why do some people buy Neons and others buy Caddy's? Don't they all get you from point A to point B? :)

It's all about what you like and are willing to spend. You may like the deluxe resorts but don't want to spend the money, despite what you can afford...and thats OK becuse its YOUR vacation and YOUR money. I personally won't spend more than $2 on a box of cereal, but others are willing to fork over $4.29, who am I to judge, or even care for that matter....

I've stayed offsite, in the mods, and in deluxe, and from this point forward we will only book deluxe - we spend time in the room and use the resort, the views are wonderful (we are poly people!). We enjoy the ambiance.

Finally, its my money, and I'll spend it where I please - consider yourself lucky we aren't all cramming in the mod resorts. Choice is a wonderful thing.

There's been an awful lot of judgement on who spends what and why in several post of late. Can't ya'll just get over it and get back to the topic of AAA rates as the post implies?

I find deluxes can be worth the price and am happy with my decision to stay in one.

You asked "agree or disagree" - totally disagree, there are many amenities offered at a deluxe that are not available at the mods and values. Just to name a few:

> Fitness Center
> Private balcony
> Sit down restaurant
> Atmosphere
> Proximity to parks
> Indoor corridors
> Transportation options

Juat my quote back from my AAA TA-

I also priced out the Beach Club(my dream hotel) but is was $1700 more for teh stay, somethng I can't justify to myself. Maybe someday or maybe DH and I will take a trip without the kids and stay there.

YAY! I just booked my "DisneyMoon" for June 8-19 at POR. Before AAA it would have been $3900ish.... through AAA we got it for $3,574.16. This includes 10 PH and Dining!

Dec. 10 I can book my ADRs!!!! YAY!

What exactly is it about deluxes that people pay $279 PER NIGHT? For any budget, big or small, that is a ridiculous amt of money.

The term "Ridiculous amount of money" is a relative statment. I just paid $280/night at Wisconsin Dells ( trust me, it's no WDW ). To give some perspective, we normally do 10 days at Disney with hoppers and fly in from Chicago. This requires one paycheck ( both from me and my wife ) to pay for the trip. Not what I would call a ridiculous amount of money personally.

Just keep in mind that everything in life is relative :thumbsup2
