I am not the do it myself type, but I did find short sleeve tshirts, in choice of like 5 colors, on Etsy a couple years back, I want to say for under $15 each. I will try to research the seller and see if I can find it somewhere in my email or files....

Short sleeves! It will probably be warm during the day and chilly at night. Bring a light jacket or pullover sweater and leggings for the nighttime, just in case. But definitely do not pack just winter clothes.

Before spending all that $$$ on embroidered shirts, check to make sure the backing isn't going to be too stiff and scratchy. Some backing is soft and nearly invisible, other stuff can be very irritating to the skin. My kids always hated shirts with embroidery.

Glad you understand it is work! Doing embroidery the right way is NOT cheap and VERY time consuming. The design is only the beginning of the cost threads, stabilizers, iron on for backs of applique fabric if its done right, blanks, lots of tools, very expensive machines, and much much more plus TIME. I would know it is what I do. Most shirts from start to finish take anywhere from 1 1/2 - 3 hours (some less if they are very basic) depending on how elaborate they are plus there is so much prep work involved and lots of supplies listed some above. I consider most etsy shops selling themselves short for their time and supplies. Many however do not put in the time, supplies, and effort that we do though. I work hard to make sure everything is perfect. Pictured is my daughter's dress we made for her very 1st day at WDW you most likely do NOT want to know the price for us making another one.

I'm a quilter. I completely understand the costs.

Maybe I could win the award for "stupid" question, here goes...... How did you do that dress ? Is the tree of life a million passes of stitches with brown thread and then top a million passes with green thread, etc. If so, does the dress weigh more than your daughter?

When everyone is talking about embroidered, I was thinking outlining pictures. But the whole picture is rows and rows of stitches?

The dress is amazing by the way. Be prepared for "where did you buy that" a hundred times over.

I originally made my own by downloading designs from etsy to transfer paper. But after one wash they were ruined. After spending almost $10 a shirt that way, I ended up buying some better made ones that were embroidered. There are lots of places you could try to resell after your trip too, to make back some of the money.

Or you could make a memory quilt for her first trip to Disney!
