DB and I are going to the halloween party this sunday, dressed as a sock hop/greaser couple. There are no reservations available, and we don't really want to eat anyways. Is there any chance they would let us just come in and take a few pictures and leave? Or can you go in to just get a drink and snap a few pics?

50's is at Hollywood Studios, not Magic Kingdom - so you wouldn't be able to do what you are wanting anyway since adults in costumes aren't allowed outside of the halloween party

I'm aware it's a different park. Our "costumes" consist of him in jeans and a plain white t shirt, and me in a black shirt and poodle skirt. Not totally convinced they'd turn us away at HS gates for that.

I am sure they wont care. You can go to the bar and stuff to go. I couldnt get a dinner res, but I went to the bar and got a slice of Mom's Peanutbutter chocolate cake! yummy!

no costumes period - you would probably have to change

I would sincerely doubt they would need to change. A great many people wear retro, rockabilly and/or vintage clothes on a regular basis as part of their everyday wardrobes and I have seen plenty of them in the parks. I myself have worn circle skirts and such to the parks with no incidents.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. If people can go to all the parks dressed to the 9's for dapper day, I can probably get away with a poodle skirt, lol. And he'll just be in jeans sooo...

I am sure you can get some pictures without an ADR. Especially on the bar side. And there is sort of a Kitchen set up right next to the check in counter that you can use for photos. Would be quite cute actually.

No they won't. If you've been to the parks any since the new rule went in to place you'd see plenty of folks dressed in what could be called costumes. If they aren't Disney characters, they will not say one word.

You'll be fine with your outfit. You won't be able to take pictures in the restaurant proper, but the Tune-In Lounge is cuter and better themed than the restaurant anyway. Pop in there, maybe split a drink or a shake and take your pictures.

I think this is so no one can claim to be a cast member when they are not

1) Not sure they wanted to claim CM status.
2) I think they wanted to dress up and have photos taken in a place where their costumes are appropriate.
3) But, in either case, nope.

Not in the restaurant.
Obviously they can't go wandering among the diners but why can't they go in the bar side? Or in the area between near where you check in. I see people taking photos there all.the.time. No one asks if they are eating there.

Yeah, we're gonna go ahead and go with the intention of grabbing a quick drink and snapping a few pics before hopping over to the party. If we get kicked out or banned or something i'll be sure to report back ;)
Have fun, waiting for some pics!

People walk back & forth between the restaurant area and the restrooms all the time. If you walk in for a moment, take a photo and don't make a pest of yourself, no one will even realize you don't have a table.

I agree. I think you will be fine. Just go in and sit at the bar and have a drink or appetizer. Take a few pictures and leave. Even if you don't want to have a drink, just walk in and take a few pics in the lobby/bar area and leave. The only thing is, you may have people in your pics as that area can get crowded.

Yeah, no issues at all. No one stopped us, no extra security, no metal detectors, not even a glance, really. Just lots of compliments. The only "problem" was that the bar/lounge area was so packed full of people waiting for their tables in the restaurant we couldn't get to anything to take pictures.

But yeah, in case anyone was worried, poodle skirts and white t shirts are NOT banned from HS.

Just curious - did you stay in the lounge area, or did you wander over into the main restaurant for your photos?
