So I added up the cost of all my Personal Floral and it came out to $1,300. This amazes me - 4 BM bouquets, 1 brides Bouquets, 2 Flower Wands, 4 Bouts, & two bothers baskets are included in that price. Maybe I'm a cheapskate, but to me that money could be Mickey at my wedding or a Carriage! Something I can't get elsewhere besides Disney...

Don't get me wrong, I would like real flowers at my wedding, when else do you get to walk around with a bouquet? But it's becoming more sensible to get the silk...

First: Allergies
DF & Mom are both allergic to Flowers, different types
My Sister (MOH) & Niece (JBM) both have allergies too.

Second: I need to get a MK Refresher for the Photoshoot - with a silk bouquet I don't need one

Third: It takes away the big temptation of getting Keepsake Floral. I love the Shadow box but don't have it in my budget but was trying to find a way to fit it.

Fourth: it would save a ton of money. I seemed to have fallen in love with cymbidium orchids bouquets. I like the bouquet that just have the orchids but this is pricey... I can't find another flower that I love that I feel that goes with the Beach/Mermaid influence.

What do you guys think? I need input!!!

Past Brides: For those that used Silk Flowers, do you reqret it? How did you get them down to WDW? Is it worth is to cut real flowers and use silk to be able to include Mickey/Minnie or a Carriage?

THANK YOU!

I think that it is whatever means most important to you. I originally was going to do real flowers and then I priced it with Disney and I had a :scared1: moment.

I am doing silk flowers and it is saving me a good chunk of change and I am using that money towards honeymoon fun and our meals. :goodvibes I would rather have a fantastic honeymoon and have some amazing dining experiences than spend more money on real flowers.

I thought about doing silk flowers. I actually made a silk bouquet for my MK Photo shoot and ended up going with Disney Floral anyway. My whole floral bill was around 3K but that was for upgraded chairs and linens which were $1200 by themselves. We didn't have a lot of floral at the wedding.

If I had the capability of doing ALL silk flowers, we might have. My centerpieces were silk, but my mom made them. I didn't have time to make anything else. If you CAN do it and save money, why not! I have seen gorgeous silks!

I'm going to be having Disney make my silk arrangements. I want silk. I don't care for the real thing, but I don't want to go threw the hassle of making them myself. Have you talked to your florist to see the cost of doing the arrangemnts in silk instead of real? Or is that the price for silk?

I used silk, made at home, and don't regret it at all. I saved a HUGE chunk of change, I got to see my flowers before the wedding so I wasn't 'worried' about what my flowers my turn out like on the wedding day, and I get to keep my bouquet forever. It was a smart move in my opinion. It was very easy to transport everything down there too. I just packed all the bouquets in a box w/peanuts supporting them and put the bouts/corsages in floral boxes I bought at the craft store. :)

So, Disney doesn't frown on bringing your own flowers?

I am definitely using their bridal bouquet, but I was planning on
making really nice paper flowers for my sister and daugther. Just wasn't sure if I was going to be able to.

I made my own bouquet. I wanted a 'substantial' flower due to our wedding being in the winter.. a strong, heavy flower. So, I went with magnolias. I bought the ones that are painted with latex, that gives them a soft appearance. I also took gold plated wire and twisted swarovski crystals and pearls into them. It was beautiful in the sun with all of the crystals sparkling.

I then bought a pewter tussy mussy and holder. I didn't like the plastic ones that DFTW had, they did my daughter's bouquet and the tussy mussy was just cheap looking.

Here is the bouquet in the room in the tussy mussy holder:

I don't know if you have a local florist you trust- we have one just a block away, and I went in, and went through all the books with her, and even brought my dress in and held different flowers against it! It was great! I honestly would not have chosen what I did had I not had it against my dress to see it.
She is ordering and putting together silk for me. I'm sure it's way cheaper than disney, but probably a bit more than if I did it entirely myself- but I am really happy to support their business, along with trusting her and getting all the help. So that is another option for you!!

Goodluck and keep us posted on what you decide!

You could totally do your own silks. I'm very creafty and creative but didn't want to stress myself out more than I already am. So I bought:
-Bouquet (1)
-Bouquet Toss Bouquet (1)
-Maid of Honor Bouquet (1)
-Brides Maid Bouquet (1)
-Mothers Corsages (2)
-Grandmothers Corsages (2)
-Grooms Boutonniere (1)
-Best Man Boutonniere (1)
-Groomsman Boutonniere (1)
-Fathers Boutonniere (2)
-Grandfathers Boutonniere (2)
-Centerpieces (4)
-Pew Floral Decor (12)
all for $350.00 including shipping from an eBay seller! She's fantastic and does custom orders. That would be about the cost of my bouquet through DFTW. There's also various silk wearhouses that you can purchase your silks from if you're not happy with the quality of Micheal's, AC Moore's, Joann's, etc. Just do a google search!

Hey can you PM me the Ebay seller? That's an awesome deal! I'm having a hard time finding silk orchids.

I am using silk flowers for mine too! I wanted plumeria and found someone who makes them artificial....my whole order will be around $500....if you want anymore info, let me know!

I can't believe you want plumeria!!! I have been researching them all day today!!!! how funny. I was just scrolling down to post that I found a website that does really great fake plumeria for not much and then I saw your post!!! :rotfl:

When we were in hong kong I totally fell in love because the promenade is lined with plumeria trees and they just smelled sooo great! We collected every possible one we could find on the ground. (the disney people there are super clean freaks compared to the states so there weren't many on the ground...)

If we do a castaway cay wedding I really want real plumeria but its out of season and I am not sure the flowers are hearty enough to last three days in a cooler before the ceremony.

However I did find that there is a green house group that does nothing but plumeria less than an hour away from disney!!!!

Let me know if you guys want either of the sites- but I would go with the fake plumeria because its not like a normal fake flower - I have one thats part of a hair stick thing and it looks really really real.

It's totally doable!

We did alot of silks for ours and ended up saving close to 2k!
