Ugh I'm so conflicted lol. We just returned from a very nice stay at the BWV in a standard studio. This was our first studio stay and we didn't feel cramped or anything with our two kids (2 and 1). We even had a crib and the pull out couch out and didn't feel cramped! Unfortunately it came to my attention that having the washer and dryer in our room is almost a MUST with children that small and packing lighter then you'd normally would. I did use the laundry room while we were there, but I lost about 2 hrs of fun in the sun at the pool with my family. I was the only one waiting in the laundry room with my clothes, but I'm not that kind of person who can just take up the machines and not be around to move them. There were people using the machines ahead of me that came in and out, but not that quickly. I don't mind if people do that just as long as they come back lolol. But in the end I lost time with my family. Plus honestly I probably waited to long to do the laundry and we were at last minute have to do it status lol. With a 1bdrm at least I could just throw them in and run out the door.

So here's where our problem comes in. I called in December at exactly 11 months at 9am for a AKV Concierge Studio. I got the last one for the whole week after Thanksgiving. After our recent stay we see that having the washer/dryer and dishwasher would be very helpful to us at this time lol. So we want to switch to a 1bdrm. We have stayed in a 1bdrm before, but we were trying to save on points and what not hence the studio lol. We'll take any 1bdrm we can get, but we'd like to stay at one of the resorts closer to the parks since most likely we won't be swimming. We look at the time of year we're going and base it off of pools for the kids or access to parks if we can't swim lol.

My problem is I'm almost heart broken to have to cancel our CL Studio lol. We wouldn't mind doing a split stay between the CL studio and a 1bdrm somewhere, but I know I would have to cancel the whole reservation and rebook for the shorter stay and who knows if the cast member could be quick enough to do that before it getting swooped up by someone else.

Sorry I'm just venting my small depression, but what a great reason to be depressed right lol. Trying to decide between what room to choose LOL.

Personally, I wouldn't change the reservation at this point because it is such a popular week.
I wouldn't think you would need a dishwasher if you are in the CL. :confused3

If you change rooms, you will have to pack everything up and check out and then check back in and you may not have access to a room in the early afternoon for naps on the day you change. I think it would be more hassle than the 2 hours you might have to spend in the laundry room.

You could pack more clothes. If underestimate, there is always the laundry room as a back up.

If I were to do a split stay, I would call member services right now and change the arrival date on the current reservation so that it covered Wed-Sun in the CL and then see if there was a 1 BR available (unless you have enough points to cover the 1br without borrowing). But, you are right you are taking a chance at being shut out of the other reservation and having to go on the Wait list. You could then add the Wait List at the 7month point to change the 1BR to resort of your choice.

You don't have to cancel the reservation to shorten your stay. You can just drop the nights off the end.

...Or, you could get your DH to do the laundry. :thumbsup2

I would stay in AKV concierge and use the common laundry room at Jambo.

I also think if you wanted to change, that you wouldn't have to cancel the AKV concierge, just get rid of the days you didn't want. That's the way it used to be, and I think it still is like that.

I don't know yet if we're really going to change the reservation or not. I've got 2 days to think about it. We know it's a very popular week which is why I'm so hesitant to even think about it. The dishwasher doesn't make or break us since we can wash everything by hand anyway. We have two young children so we have extra cups and things that need to be washed each night. The dishwasher just helps clear some time in the mornings/evenings from having to do it lol. So really that's not a big deal. The washer/dryer is more of what we noticed we needed way more then we thought. I put off as long as I could to do laundry, but with our kids they spilled something on almost everything they had. I went through no less then 2 pairs of clothes a day for them. So in all honesty at the kids rate I packed just enough to get us to Wednesday with a Sunday check in lol. We also had to wash their carseat covers while we were down there too. Which was another laundry room trip just for that. I forgot about that till right now lol. It was a memory I was trying to forget LOLOL.

I also forgot to mention my sister "might" come with us. And with a studio 3 adults, 1 toddler, 1 infant that might be much lol. My sister coming doesn't matter in my decision process since she's only a might lol. I just like the thought of being at the CL since who knows when we'll do it again. But then again I don't want to regret not getting the 1bdrm when we get there LOL.

Oh decisions LOL! When I call I'll have my list of options in front of me so I'll be prepared to change or not. I was just sitting here with my post vacation blues thinking about the next one LOL.

CL is sooooooo hard to get! I think I would pack extra outfits.

Also, I have often hand washed clothes...especially for little ones...they are small so they wash and dry fairly quickly:laundy:

This is good news! I might do this if we can!

He might wind up doing it this time! He did it two trips ago during our drive down. Daughter got sick in the car. And it was my turn this trip, but mine was normal laundry lol.

I hope we can still do possibly cancelling some nights. This might work out better for us in the end. I don't really put our stuff away in the drawers and things anyway and we'd use Bell Services to transfer luggage so moving wouldn't impact us much.

I know this is why I'm in such a confused sorta state. We're due to arrive on Nov 27-Dec. 3. So I know if I cancel there's NO way I'll see that room again. I was soooo lucky to get it when I did. The CM told me yup we have it, and it's the LAST one!

I agree with others. I would not give of the CL. You (or DH!) can do laundry in the evening while you are getting the kids to settle in -- it gets dark early that time of year so you won't miss out on sun!!!:thumbsup2

My sister just called and booked 2 nights thanksgiving week in a 1 bedroom. Her choices at the time were OKW, SSR and AKV. If I were you I would keep my CL room this time and only book 1 bedrooms from now on. CL is really hard to get and who knows when you will get it in the future. Good luck with your choice!

I know this might sound crazy, but could you book a 1 bedroom for 1 night in the middle of the trip--don't cancel the studio, but put either just DH or your name on it--so that you can do laundry? I know its an extra 30 something points, but you'd still be able to keep the concierge room and have a place to do laundry and leave it without losing time with your family.

I think that as long as you don't have the same lead person as the studio, you can book like that. Not that I would normally do it this way, but given that you have the concierge room, this might work as a compromise.

I'd keep what you have, do laundry in the evening either DH or you the other has bath and bed duty. Going forward 1 bedroom all the way if you can swing it points wise! I bought DVC for a 1 bedroom or larger for 1) full kitchen with kids it simplifies everything 2) laundry. With that said I spent many years "paying" for laundry at the Ft. but I was one of those that put my wash in, looked at the time, went to the pool 30 mins later I was back to throw clothes in dryer, repeat! Good luck and enjoy
