Possible WDW Ticket Scam

We have just returned from WDW. One night, my son drove to the Chinese restaurant on Palm Parkway (north of Downton Disney). He also needed to buy some milk. So he went into the liquor/fooditem store there. There was a guy standing in front (outsideof) of that store asking people if they wanted Disney tickets. When my son told him we already had tickets, he made the astonishing offer to buy our used-up tickets for $15 each after we were done with them. This whole set up really seemed dubious, and this offer made it seem even more so.

He gave my son a business card that shows the "company" name as "Orlando Vacation Planners" and shows the guy's contact information only as "Lyam 407-744-7480" (no surname; no address).

I googled on "Orlando Vacation Planners" and found no such company. When I googled on the phone number, I got about 5 hits on Craig's List and similar places.

We are not going to sell our used-up tickets to this guy. I don't want to be a part of him selling some naive visitor worthless tickets. But I thought that others should know about this guy in case they are approached by him to buy tickets.

This kind of thing has been going on since my first visit back in the 1970s. For a long time, the tickets worked just fine for the people they sold them to. Disney has been trying different methods to curb this kind of thing for more than 3 decades.

Modern computerization and fingerscans have made it more difficult for people to do this, but it still happens. The folks who buy those tickets are still successful using them much of the time. It's against Disney policy, but it happens.

Not to open a can of worms here.. but how exactly is buying completely used tickets for $15 going to result in a positive outcome for the "next" person that ends up buying that ticket?

Admittedly, these ticket resales vary from unethical to out-and-out fraud... but one thing they ALL have in common is ..

THEY ARE AGAINST FLORIDA LAW. Period.

To the OP: Thanks for reporting this -- it's been forwarded to Disney.
