Possible to get Ohana dessert from Kona Cafe dinner?

We have a dinner booked at Kona Cafe in July. I had looked into Ohana or Kona, but the dinner food at Ohana wasn't all that appealing. The menu at Kona however, looks very good to us. So we decided to go there one night for dinner. The only thing that looked special and appealing to us at Ohana was the bread pudding for dessert.

At the Kona Cafe dinner, is it possible they would allow us to order the bananas foster bread pudding from Ohana for our dessert? I have read reports that people have been able to get sushi from the Kona sushi bar while dining at Kona Cafe, so I figured I would ask about the dessert. Does Kona share a kitchen with Ohana by any chance? Even though we are on the basic DDP, we are paying for this meal OOP so no worries about them not giving us the dessert for part of a dining plan credit. What do you think? Any chance they's honor this request?

Don't know about the kitchens but I would assume so. They are literally right next to each other in the resort. I think I read that someone was able to do this. Disney is usually pretty good about doing things that would be theorhetically possible especially if you are willing to pay for it.

Wow, I hope you are right! It would be nice to be able to try the Ohana dessert but eat the Kona food at the same time! It can't hurt to ask them, the worst they will do is say no. And it's not like I would make an ADR for Ohana if they don't do this...like I said, the menu for Kona is more appealing to us.

In September we did this. DH ordered bread pudding while dining at Kona server said let me go check and then came back and said Ohana had enough to share, it was great. I love the dessert at Ohana, just not the whole dinner. Even though we are considering giving it another shot this April. Kona dinner was great, they have wonderful bread, paying OOP the price of the steak would be steep, we had free DDP. I also had the choc/bananna creme brulee off the Kona menu and I have to say best dessert on Disney property for me personally.

1) ONLY if they think they will have enough to give away.
2) If they think they will use it all, then they will not let you have any.

OK, I will ask the server when we first sit down and see what they say. If not, the desserts on Kona's menu look great too!

They don't have bread pudding at Captain Cook's right?

THey didn't let me back in April... but I think if I had pushed it they would. We had a new waiter and I asked... when I asked for it he said he didn't think he could get it, but he was new so he wasn't sure. So, I asked "well, would you mind checking?" His response was to walk away to a few other tables, up to the dessert bar (not talking to any other employee) then came back to my table and said "no, I'm sorry we can't." He seemed very annoyed, so I didn't push the issue. But going back I sort of wish I had!

Good luck, I hope you get your bread pudding!!! I went the sneaky route this time to get that Ohana's ressie, and was successful. We have never been to Ohana's, and I really wanted to... and not just for the bread pudding (but that was a big part of the motivation!!! lol)

It's definitely worth a try! We think that the dessert at 'Ohana is heavenly! :cloud9: It's one of the reasons we dine at 'Ohana every trip to WDW!!!:goodvibes

Is the portion just for one person or a bunch of people for the 4.99? The reason I ask is because i could eat more than one portion and afraid it wouldnt be enough;)

We did this our last trip. I had made reservations at Ohana but they didn't have my reservation, or I messed it up in all the planning and juggling. We put our name on the list for both Ohana and Kona and waited to see which one buzzed first. Kona won and I'm so glad, since it was new for us and the food was awesome. The service was very slow, but the food was worth it. I asked for the bread pudding for desert and the waiter said he would have to check and came back with it. So yummy!
