I really want to try the Lapu Lapu at the O'hana, but I am definitely a light weight when it comes to alcohol so I was wondering if there is lighter version or a non alcoholic version that can be requested when ordering one of these drinks.

Someone else can probably answer on the non-alcoholic version, but you can definately get a lightweight version of any drink, just let your server know to have the bartender prepare it that way!

Enjoy! :)

Have you had the lapu lapu before? I honestly did not think it was that strong. It's a liquid drink, not frozen in hollowed out pineapple. A fun way to serve a drink.... but I didn't even like the taste... not strong with alcohol, just didn't taste good. The other drinks at Poly (frozen ones) and the mojitos tasted very good!

I haven't tried it yet but I did some research and it seems like it's a general consensus that it's very strong and I am a real light weight when it cones to alcohol. People say you cant really taste it so you don't know you are drinking too much lol. I am very curious about trying one though as long as the bartender can bring down the alcohol some.

You could always drink 1/2 and then see how you feel!!! I don't know what they could do to make it less strong. I don't think there's much in it but alcohol. I think the spirits are Barcardi 151 and Meyers Rum. That being said, the pineapple for my lapu lapu didn't seem to hold a lot... or I'm just a lush... DW didn't like it at all, that's how I ended up with 2 lapu lapus! I didn't mind the alcohol taste.... I just didn't like the taste of the drink. At least mine needed more flavor of something....... pineapple, coconut, anything. It just tasted like a cheap whiskey sour. Maybe that night, the bartender didn't use good quality spirits and just pulled the cheap rum from the bottom shelf.

If you want a good tasting drink, the other choices are better.

A non-alcoholic Lapu Lapu is basically just orange juice and sour mix - just order that.

If you're really only interested in the mystique of drinking out of a pineapple, you can always ask the bartender to serve you some fruit juice in the pineapple.

I myself found it quite strong, could have just been that bartender but I asked for more juice to mx in and it still was strong!
