Possible to book 2 different resorts?

Intending on booking a DVC resort at the 7 month mark (probably online) using points, is it possible to book another DVC resort for the same 4 nights (also with my points)?
And then cancelling one of those reservations a few weeks later? Or is it impossible to have two DVC reservations at the same time?

As long as you have enough points to cover both reservations you can do that. Just make sure you understand the penalties if you are borrowing points and if you cancel within 30 days of a reservation.

It used to be that you had to a different name as the "lead" person on each reservation, like "J. Doe" and "John Doe." I don't know if that still applies since I haven't tried it for several years.

I tried to do this last year. When I spoke to ms they said they were glad I told them because sometimes they go in and "clean things up" if they see two reservations in the same person's name. I'd be careful.

Just put the second reservation in your traveling partners name. I always make my reservations with just one guest in the rooms until I iron out specifics.

Or put the 2nd reservation in using your middle name as another option. That way MS "sees" the reservation as being for someone else.

If it's for, say, you and your husband... put your name on one resie and your husband's on the other. Then a few weeks later, when you cancel one, you can update the names on the one you keep.
