I purchased tix from UT while there is a promotion. Am I still able to book a room + DDP reservation? Or Disney doesn't allow that? It doesn't seem like it's an option at all.

Anyone know if I can book room only and then call in to add DDP? If not, then I'm going to price our renting DVC instead and skip DDP all together this time. Thanks!

Yes, but you have to call. You can't book a "ticketless package" online.

Yes, but be prepared for it to take a while (it was 45ish minutes for my call). You can also book DDP when you rent DVC points....

When I asked the CM on the phone about doing it she said, "let me see if that is available for your dates". So I'm not sure exactly what she was looking at, but it's not necessarily guaranteed that you will be able to do it. But, yes, it's possible. Just call and ask. :)

thanks!!! I'm still figuring out our arrival date but good to know this is possible. I did the math for this trip and since we're going to legoland for one day, paying OOP for meals is more/less same as DDP so I don't think it's a big deal if the CM can't add it either.

I booked a room only reservation with a unique offer code we received in the mail. I was told we could add on the DDP later if we wanted to. But I just called to add it on and I was told there were no more packages available for my dates. The original cast member I had spoken to hadn't told me my original reservation would have to be cancelled and rebooked to add the DDP... It doesn't really make sense to me that I can't just add it on since I'd be paying full price for it. Oh well, I don't think it'll end up making much of a difference either way. Just annoying that the original CM didn't warn me.

I think I would call back and ask again as that just doesn't make sense. The DDP is a money-maker for Disney. Now, you may have to cancel and rebook since you are changing to a package, but that's not really that difficult. It's just the way their system does things. Call again and if you get the same answer, maybe ask for a supervisor or ask them to check with a supervisor, because you should be able to add it.

It is true that your room only reservation would have to be cancelled and rebooked, but not that there is a finite number of packages. Did they mean the resort and room category you booked weren't available? Or that a package wasn't available with that code?

The CM told me that there wasn't any package availability for my dates at that resort. I thought it was a little strange though because if they cancelled my original reservation, wouldn't there be a room availability? Unless only certain rooms can qualify for a package? I think I'm going to try to call back and see if another CM knows how to do it.

You can add and PAY FOR a dining plan up to a few days before your trip no matter how you booked. I have done it. You should not have to cancel and re-book...it is an ADD ON.

Now, if you're trying to get in on a special offer (free dining) that's a different story.

Nope. In order to add dining, you have to change your room-only reservation to a package, and everything that goes along with that. It's not simply an add-on.

I have added it on to room only and a package in the past...never had any problem and never had to rebook...if I had had to rebook (even if it happened and I just wasn't told that was what was happening) I would have had to get a refund on my original and re-pay the new one and never have...so unless there's a new procedure in place, it has happened.

Not sure if you did re-book or not. They can use the same deposit/money you put toward it already to book the new reservation with refunding first.

Can't simply add a package add-on like the dining plan to a reservation that is not a package. The two types of reservation are separate.

Even if you were not told that they cancelled the previous reservation, that is what they did. they may be able to get guest services to roll over the refund into the package.

How many times have you added dining to a room only reservation. It only became possible within the past year; maybe less (other than DVC and AP holders).

I have a room at All Stars in Jan for two nights with 20% discount. I have reservations at Cape May and Boma. Since they are $60 each plus tax (I assume tip is over the dining credit) the QS and snack would be a bonus if the regular meal plan is $60. Is this doable or will I lose my discount? Thanks.

Except Boma and Cape May are ~$40 each. So, that math doesn't really work out.

Ok, thanks. I was told it was 59.99 each when I called to make my reservation. Glad it's less! I was surprised they went up so much since the last time we ate there.
