Just received a phone call from a friend who traded her Puerta Vallarta timeshare for a studio at Old Key West the week of July 3rd, 2004. She is offering this reservation to me for a great price. However, she indicated that upon checking in, I am to pay some type of tax to Disney. She was unsure of the details but felt it was about $100.00. Does anyone know about this and what the amount would be based upon? (If it is rack rate it would be much more.) If anyone knows the answer, again it would be much appreciated!! (She doesn't want to do any more "legwork" on this, just wants an answer from me whether or not I
want this!)

It's a resort fee of $95 that Disney charges for trade ins. Payable at check in and covers transportation.

$95 - just call it an exchange fee to trade into DVC.

please remember that II does like you to sell their exchanges and you will need a II guest certificate with your name on it or DVC won't let you check in.

It's actually called a "resort services fee". It technically is payable before check in. It's $95 on top of the regular exchange fee of $121 (usually). Remember one can also call DVC members services for requests and the like. I've seen several OKW and a VWL studio for that time.
