I am surprised I didn't read this here, unless I just missed the thread.
From savedisney.com:

Strike One

The Disneyland Resort avoided a walkout from the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees union this weekend when H.E.R.E. agreed to extend talks for 14 days past the January 31 contract expiration date.

Cast members say union representatives are preparing them for a strike if Disney and the union are unable to agree on a new contract to cover workers at the Disneyland Hotel and the Paradise Pier hotel. (Workers at the Grand Californian hotel are covered by a separate contract which expires in 2005.)

At issue are wage increases, health care benefits and work conditions for the 1,300 workers covered under the contract. While talks continue, managers from other business units are being trained at the hotels and restaurants to take the places of workers should the union call for a strike. MousePlanet.com

And guest what, the Walt Disney World Contract talks are about to began in Floirda, which Expires on May 1st.

I'm gonna be making a trip to SoCal in the next two weeks and I was thinking of eating at BB since I have a AP. They better not have walked out.

Strikes are nothing new to DL, usually they are short-lived and settled quickly. It has been awhile since there has been a strike, though. I don't remember if there have been strikes at WDW or not, I would assume so, I just don't remember them.
