Possible proof that characters are coming to Small World>

I saw a lot of the construction when I was there in mid-July. You really get a great shot of what is being done from Dumbo. I'm super excited to follow the construction progress.

Interesting... then again, it could just be Disney's continuing effort to homogenize all merchandise so they can spend less and screw the guests over even more with the same generic everything for sale at every single gift shop across the globe...

But I certainly hope it means we get the characteres in IASW. :)

You could be right but it is closed for a long time to just swap the entrance and exit :confused3

Just last Wednesday I was at Disneyland and rode It's a Small World for my first time (Well, DLR's). I'm so jealous of their Small World! It's so much better and I actually loved all the classic Disney characters in it. I thought since they were messing with such an old attraction it wouldn't be as timeless, but I was proved wrong.

I hope that they add those characters into the ride. I can't wait for all this refurbishment to be done with.

I may be more inclined to ride Small World if they add some characters

I love It's A Small World! It is my favorite ride above all. I was disappointed when it was closed in August. Luckily I got to ride it in May. Any upgrades are welcome by me. I can't wait.

Well, I thought I saw Pooh's tree, from Google Earth, in the ride queue area. Nice to know I ain't crazy. Nice to know they're keeping it too.
Looks like the field they cleared behind the park Chunnel entrance ain't being used either. Figured they might build a new support building there or at least a staging area. Maybe they just pulled some dirt out for that mountain they got going on in FL?

i wouldn't put too much into it.. and i would check and see if DLR sells the same product with the same logo just with DLR instead of Magic Kingdom.

A lot of the new merchandise is co branded with both DLR and WDW

Yes, they are re-branded or simple duplicates of the DL merch.

Screamscape posted hat local sources have re-iterated that the characters are NOT being added, and that the merch is just that - duplicates from DL.

If they do add the characters, I hope they dont add that gawdy America scene, it kind of ruins the ride since its supposed ot be a trip through other countries, maybe they could add newer characters like put Perry amoung hte plataypi in the Australia room, and hide the house from Up in the Rainforest scene.

This is not what the ride is about, it is about all of the countries in the world and the children in those countries.

IASW: "A salute to all countries, but mostly not America."

Many things - such as this - truly make me wish that i lived in California or Oregon instead of on the Eastern Seaboard...

I envy how imagineering is aloud to take some creative license and do things with both existing and new attractions at Disneyland that they never seem to get around to doing at WDW

Sure...we get a crappy version of an Indiana Jones "attraction" over here...an occasional clone like Soarin...but the difference in goals between the two domestic parks is apparent:

Simply put, WDW is for cash generation and guest number increases only....whereas the imagination of Disneyland hasn't been completely taken away yet.

It's sad, they open half parks in orlando and they increase gate prices and order new buses....they do it once in California and they put a paperbag over their heads and dump a mint worth of money into "saving face"

I know that WDW has the size and lead in number of diversions...it would be nice if they would strengthen what they build there...i would be happy if they never built any other parks as long as they didn't operate on a "status quo" type plan overall in orlando - fantasyland aside

I just came back from a Disneyland visit this summer and almost every attraction that is shared by both coasts is better at Disneyland. Cough Cough Space Mountain, Peter Pan and did I forget that they could keep Mr Toad and build a new building for Pooh.

I disagree. They've opened a steady stream of D- and E-ticket attractions in WDW over the past decade or so. Some are the same as CA, some are different, and in at least one case (TSM) they created one ride for both coasts simultaneously.

Some rides may be better there, like IASM, especially with the Nightmare makeover they do each year. Some are not -- like ToT, which is way better here.

I agree that Disney World is larger therefore there are more attractions here but value for your ticket is certainly higher on the one day tickets. I paid $99.00 for a one day park hopper and experienced as many attractions as I would have at 3 Disney World Parks. IMO the attraction count alone between Magic Kingdom at Disneyworld and Disneyland is a huge difference. Don't get me wrong Epcot is my favorite park but I do prefer Disneyland to Magic Kingdom. I also wanted to point out Small World also gets a holiday make over in California and Magic Kingdom certainly has nothing as spectacular as the Indiana Jones Adventure.
