Possible GFV a quick sell out?

A relative of mine was at BCV this last week. While sitting pool side he struck up a conversation with another owner who had been on a split stay between BW and BCV since early Feb (talk about alot of points!). They spoke about GFV and the latest news that the owner had heard was that if the wait list results in sales similar to what previous wait lists have, then GFV will just about sell out within a few months.

I doubt that could be true, but figured it would be decent food for thought.

For me - if the waitlist was that long, I would raise pricing to to eliminate that issue, but what do I know?

Interesting discussion if nothing else...

It seems to me that that was the same tone heard when BLT was in the works.

Sales peeps builtinf hype. ...said the same thing about Blt. Though it won't take as long as Akv or ssr. There just will not be nearly as many points either.

I expect GFV to start off fairly strong because of incentives and there are people who want to own there. But with rumored pricing of anywhere between $165 to $200 per point this could be a hard sell, IMHO.

Long before it sells out there will be resales available at a discount, that's what happened at BLT.

We already own BLT and VWL for MK resorts. Unless something magical happens, I don't think that we will be buying there. I do have an ascot in a drawer around here somewhere, so we will stay there to try the place out. :goodvibes

We own at BLT & AKV. I do want another 100 points or so. I'm not paying $175/point. I'll just buy SSR resale or something like that.

Regarding resale, I have a question. Do Vero Beach & Hilton Head have the ability to book on property DVCs at 7 months like any other points?

In the grand scheme, I want 200 more points in two separate contacts. That will allow us to gift 100 points to each kid when they get married & keep 100 for ourselves.

What waitlists? For the classic resorts? Or were there waitlists for active sales at some point in time?

If VGF sales far exceed Disney's expectations, they will simply raise prices higher and faster than they already plan to do. That's how any entrepreneur would respond to excessive demand for a product--especially a product that has a limited supply available.

In the years leading up to sales at the Grand Californian, DVC gave buyers first-dibs on VGC when they purchased Saratoga Springs points. This group of owners was guaranteed 2 or 3 months to buy points before they were offered to the general public, with the inference being that 48 villas at Disneyland wouldn't last very long.

About 22 months later, VGC finally sold out. ;)

Deja Vu.

We heard the same line of BS about BLT :lmao:

You do know that VB & HHI have the highest MFs of any of the East Coast resorts?

Yes they do, but the biggest problem is that if you buy points there thinking you will use them at WDW, then you will fall in love with the resorts and you won't be able to imagine NOT going there! (speaking from experience, of course) and have to buy MORE points!:rotfl:

yep. buying into VB and HHI to use at wdw is a rookie mistake IMO.

I figure we'll probably end up with a resale contact for SSR. As mentioned, we currently own AKV & BLT, purchased direct. If I'd even known resale could be an option, I'd have probably bought resale even then. But it is what it is...

I think in the order of "fairness", I either need to add on another 100 points direct & 100 resale (for us) or sell 100 of the direct purchase points & buy 300 resale points. (Keeping the remaining direct 100 points ourselves & giving each kid 100 resale.)

Or you could buy points there, stay there once and go "what was I thinking" and put them back on the market.

(My HHI points met this standard)

The waitlist referred to was related to when a new resort launches. I guess people join a list to be contacted as soon as the resort launches. In this case, GFV is set to go live any time now, and the list of people is allegedly so long that the amount of points available will be gone by the time they get to the end of it.

Since I am very new to DVC, I did not realize that the same was spoken about related to BLT.
