Hi girls, before i go calling disney i figured i would ask my couple questions in here and maybe get some insight.

Ok so I am in the process of getting an engagement ring for my girlfriend and figured what better way to propose than in disney! We are already booked for 6 days in august(free dining!) and i specifically made a adr for coral reef the 2nd night were there thinking i could get a diver for the proposal. Were also going to have my mother and my soon to be stepdaughter along with a good friend and his wife. The questions i have are??

1. I know they won't do a diver for just anything anymore, but do you think they will help me out with this?
2. Should i call disney main line or should i talk to the gm of the coral reef directly and does anyone know there name or number?

thanks for all your help and if you have any more tips let me know!!

I think they will still do a diver, but I think you pay something for it, and with such a special occasion it would prob be worth it. If not maybe you could have them bring out one of those desserts that say "will you marry me" on the plate or something.

I bet if you call the main dining tn they could give you the number directly to CR. Once your plans are all set up, make sure you call the DAY of to make sure they don't make any mistakes. Always follow up! :goodvibes

And congrats in advance!

I don't know if this is possible, but I would try to get scuba mickey!

In the past he could always hold a big sign for private events. I am not sure if he can still hold signs or not and I am not sure if he could do it for the coral reef. But I think its def worth asking about if she likes mickey! :goodvibes

Congratulations!

Start with regular guest relations and they will direct you to whomever.

There is always a world of possibilities when proposing at Disney! I used to be a performer and one of the places I worked was Liberty Tree Tavern. I was there one night when a guy proposed. He had arranged it ahead of time and had a special menu made up, a videographer, floral, the works! Afterwards the characters (we were already there as part of the theming of the restaurant) came out to congratulate him.

I believe this is somethign you might be able to get a diver for, but don't expect Scuba Mickey (unless it's to hold a congratulations sign.) Characters are not allowed to be a part of any proposal or wedding (for weddings we come out at the receptions). For proposals, they can come out and congratulate afterwards but they are not allowed in the vicinity during the proposal itself.

Several people here have mentioned "engagement packages" so that is worth looking into. Good luck! She sounds like a very lucky young woman.

thanks everyone for your suggestions!! i think i will call guest relations on thursday and see what they say. I am babysitting soon to be stepdaughter this week so im thinking i might ask her opinion of if me and her mom got married (but not say when just a general future questions) what do you guys think? I can't tell her she will probably not be able to keep her mouth shut!1: )
Also what do you think about my mother? should i prewarn her like a month ahead of time, that night, or just let it fly??

I'm not sure about asking the stepdaughter. She's not going to be able to keep it quiet. If you want it to be a surprise, it's best to say nothing. What will you do if she decides it should only be her and mommy? I think it's best to let the mother deal with this and explain it to her daughter.

As for your mother, you're the only one who can make that call. We don't know anything about her. Is she likely to raise a fuss? If so, you may want to wait until it's a done deal (or if she is likely to blab). If she's going to be excited but can keep her mouth shut, there's nothing wrong with telling her now.

hey everyone for an update on my status and more questions...
