(Possible Debate)How old is too old for to ride in a stroller

Personally, as long as she doesn't run into the back of my legs with a kid that size I don't really care.

My kids wanted to walk on their own by the time they were about 4-5.

My youngest is 11 and there is no way she would ever get in a stroller! And pacifers were done as soon as they were off the bottles. (1 - 1 1/2)

I say we have WAY more important things to worry about!

Well, yeah, we do, that is true. I'm not particularly worried about it, but the fact of the matter is 11 is too old for a stroller.

In the heat of summer, I can't say I blame the kid if someone is willing to push him around the park.

Personally, I wouldn't want to deal with the hassles of a stroller. We couldn't wait to be done with them. And we haven't used them since my younger was about 2 or 3.

As for pacifiers, it is traumatic to take them away, but for the sake of their mouths it's a good idea to force the issue by the time permament teeth are coming in, I'd think. But I still preferred pacifier use to thumb sucking, because I was able to take the pacifier away. Thumb sucking can be a hard habit to break.

11 is way too old for a stroller:rolleyes:

At that age, he's ready for a :moped:

I just don't know....:confused3

Whining, tantrums and strollers, sounds more like a 2yo than an 11yo!
And this parent is responsible for making this child be a social misfit. I always worry that these over protected children will never grow up to be independant.

11 is too old for a stroller. a while ago my mom's friend was pushing her 13 yo dd in the front basket of a wal-mart cart. yes, she is very tiny and skinny. heck when i was 13 i didnt even want to ride in the car with my parents!!! lol

The issues with this family seem to go WAY deeper than the stroller... :earseek:

Sounds like Mom has some serious screws loose. I'll bet these kids have trouble relating to peers for many years to come...

(She doesn't still try to diaper them, does she? )

Or worse yet, nurse them. Wasn't there a lady in the news recently who was in trouble for nursing her pre-teen kid?

I saw that too, Snoops. Some people should not be parents!

Pacifiers should be taken away from a child ATLEAST by the child's third birthday. This is what the dental office I work for recommends and also the orthodontist next to our office recommends this time frame too. The problem with pacifiers and thumb sucking is - they produce an open bite on the child which can only be corrected by braces.

Is it a problem that I make my 5 year old dd push me around in a stroller? :teeth:

I think that once a kid is ten they should start doing the pushing! I bet your five year old could give it a good shot though!

Excuse me for saying this, but SHE'S WHACKED BEYOND BELIEF:yo-yo:
Again she is sister's friend definitely not mine. She can't stand me (really as if I care:hyper: ) because I booted her and her boy out of my son't bday party a years ago. The only reason I invited him was because of my sister who happens to be his Godmother.
This kid has no home training whatsoever. All the kids are playing games doing kidly things and this boy is trying to raid the gifts. Okayy I said ROBIN PLEASE TELL YOUR SON TO LEAVE THE GIFTS ALONE:mad: strike one

Strike two- happend when she took it upon herself to go into my son's bedroom to snoop around while letting her son play with my son's XBOX. Although my son is 11 he likes to collect remote controled thingies such as Dragonfly, Insector, Jimmy Neutron ect... He also likes to collect and play with all the game consoles. Besides XBOX, PS1and2 and GameCube, he also has the old ones such as (Atari which is in a box) and Sega Genesis.
Now YOU all know these games are NOT CHEAP especially the newer games for the newer consoles. I'll be the first to say he is lucky to be the only grandson and nephew on both sides, because honestly I have a hard time shelling out 50 to 60bucks for a game:faint:
Anywhoo this kid has my son's game all over the floor outside of the cases. SORRY BUT I WANTED TO RIPE HIS HEAD OFF.

Third strike was when she took it upon herself to cut my son's cake because Ryan wanted a piece.
I lost it at that point. I told her to get her **** and get her crazy *** out of my house. At first she thought I was over reacting, but when I told her either she leave on her own or I'll happily assist in a not so good way she left.
My sister and she are still somewhat friends, but when she see me she will go in the oposite direction:wave2:

DS6 and DS4 are wild, especially at WDW. So I am grateful that they still will ride in a stroller. Confinement and containment are our goals with this issue. We would lose them for sure if they didn't....That is the only time we use a stroller...

We just got back from WDW and I wish that more people would encourage their kids to walk. We had minimal waits during our stay so I know that the parks weren't as crowded as they can get, but the amount of stroller, wheelchair, motor scooter gridlock was insane at times. On some of the more narrow walkways it was almost impossible to navigate.

My DD used a stroller on our previous trip when we celebrated her 5th birthday in WDW. This trip we traveled with family and our group had an almost 6 year old, 2 - 8 year olds, and a 9 year old. All have been traveling on there own foot power for some time now and no one ever complained or suggested riding, although the 6 year old and one of the 8 year olds are both tiny and I'm sure many people would have encouraged a stroller for them.

I think strollers are fine for small chidren who are used to riding but for healthy children who no longer use a stroller at home, I would encourage walking as much as possible just to decrease the gridlock.

Sorry, my kids NOT getting lost is more important to me than preventing gridlock..::yes::

I agree, which is why I require my children each hold a parent's hand in crowded places.
