Possible Debate: Death in natural disasters= God's population control

While I am a Christian, I personally feel that a better plan for controlling population would be to not have our religious leaders telling us it's sinful to use birth control.

Q, seriously, count up the casualties of all the huge disasters of the past several years, heck, I'll give you the past 20 years, no, let's go 60 years and include WWII and all after, and compare all those deaths to the 6 1/2 billion current world population, and growing at about a 100 million a year now. Nope, no theological population control. If it is, He/She is failing.

I don't know if this is worth typing cause not everyone believes in God and not everyone is religious.

I was just talking to my brother about this earlier. I think this is God's way of calling people "home." People die in so many ways. God have plan for all of us.. even before we were conceived. HE knows when it's time for us to go. Some dies young some dies old.. Maybe some are meant to "go" this way... through Mother nature cause. They were there at that time.. at that place.. at that particular moment. Things happen for a reason.

I think 911 was a "wake up call." Tsunami was a wake up call. Katrina is another wake up call. And now.. the earthquake is a wake up call. But the biggest wake up call for me is when my husbad passed away. After his death.. I felt that I needed to connect with God and get to know HIM again.
And I think I am a better person now that I was before. I just think that God is telling us to "have faith.. believe in HIM.. to pray.. and not to forget about him..

And God loves you so much that he burned alive your co-worker, drowned you vacationing friend, starved your aged relative to death, buried your neighbours family and killed the love of your life.
Yeah right.
If that's a wake up call, I think I'll sleep on.

Besides... didn't God say after the Great Flood that he wouldn't use such means again? So which is it?

I don't believe God sits up there with a bouncer's counter going, "Hey... my people are procreating too much... :knucklecrack: Time for a natural disaster to thin them out a bit..."

I don't know about population control....my best friend and I think it's his way of getting attention. Didn't attendance at chuch go up significantly after 9/11? He likes it when we come begging to him.

I don't even know if I believe in God. I'm confused, but I'm not exactly his biggest fan right now, so I don't doubt that it's some way to get everyone begging for help and praying nothing bad happens to us, blah, blah.

Then again, if I don't think he's responsible for good things, it would be unfair to blame him for the bad things.

I think that the earth is ever-changing, and earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, floods, tsunami's, disease, and droughts are just part of the cycle. The media is what has changed. We have glogal reports, rather than just knowing what happens in our own back yard.
