I think the debate here is not whether cooking or eating in the rooms is okay, but whether or not cooking in rooms where there are no appliances and the rooms are not wired properly for heat producing appliances is okay. There is a big difference.
If the hotel gives you applainaces, they are fine with you using them and it's okay.
If they don't, and you ask if you can bring your own and they say yes, then it's okay.
If you call them to ask and they say it's against regulations, THEN DON'T BRING THEM.
This doesn't mean you can't eat snacks in your room though.
I don't want to be in a hotel that could potetially have a fire hazard because someone needed to bring a crock pot along.
*The budget board people are the same people who post here. Not everyone makes a decent living and if we want to take vacations to WDW we have to skimp where we can. I refuse to skimp on food, and we don't eat much anyway, and honestly, I'd never cook in my hotel room. But I pick up a lot of other tips on the BB that have saved me a lot of $$.
*I hate wasting food. Hate it. If I have something at the end of the night, and I'm just going back to the room anyway, and the room HAS a fridge and microwave, I'll probably take the food back and consider eating it the next day in lieu of buying a new meal. But that is just because I can't help but think it is wrong to waste food. But I wouldn't go out of my way to eat it the next day and I'd NEVER bring my own appliances.
