I understand that Disney are thinking of changing the way they open HS to avoid the mad rush towards TSM every morning. At the moment the old rope drop ceremony is in place when everyone goes to towards TSM enmass causing big queues and lots of jostling etc. The new procedure, which has apparently already been trialled, is to do away with the rope drop and let the public straight into the park via the turnstiles. This way there is no huge build up of crowd waiting for the rope to drop and the natural staggered entry by going through the turnstiles causes a more staggered approach to the TSM ride. It obviously wont help ease how busy the ride gets as the day progresses, but at least it will remove the mad rush that happens every morning but I think a lot of people may now try to get to the park earlier to be first in line at the turnstiles. Do you think this will be an improvement if they go ahead with this? Has anyone been there when they tried this out? I wont miss the opening ceremory because I have seen it many times but it would be a shame for first time visitors.

I can only see there been a shift in where people mass to be honest!

Instead of the crowds forming at rope drop they will form outside the turnstiles and to be honest the problems those turnstiles can often cause I can imagine it causing some serious stress for the CM's:scared:

Makes sense to me though as its manic at RD down the main street :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

They have done away with the opening shows everywhere except MK.

They have been doing it at Epcot for a while and it is definitely better for Soarin. Can't comment on TSM as we skipped it in favour of ToT which DD prefers.

So what happens if you have breakfast at Hollywood and Vine? Do they hold you back until opening time?

Previously you would walk over to the rope on the main street and wait with the rest of the crowd.
