Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

Has anyone booked a new cabin coming up. I'm about to for Nov just don't know if i want an old one or new one.

Thank you both! Can I ask how far out we should book the golf cart?
You can book one up to a year in advance. If you know you want it, there’s no reason to wait. We booked ours as soon as we made the resort reservation.

I have a few questions. We never stayed at Ft Wilderness.
Can you rent a golf cart on grounds or is that something we do thru a 3rd party?
How do you get back and forth from mk? Is there a boat and is it wheelchair/scooter accessible?
Can you visit the stables?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

You can rent a golf cart from FW (advance reservations: 407-824-2742) or bring you own (proof of insurance might be requested). Day of rentals might be available, but reservations are recommended.

Disney no longer allows 3rd parties to delivery rented golf carts to FW.

Yes, you can visit the stables.

Thank you! Can you visit the stables at any time that they're open or do you have to make some kind of reservation?

The stables near the settlement are open 10 am to 5 pm daily and you can just drop in anytime during those hours.

There is also a location near the outpost which is where the horse back riding starts from. You view horses from outside the fence, but can't enter the building.

As FYI, for the readers here on the DIS/Resorts forum, be aware that any questions about Fort Wilderness (regardless of accommodations type) can be handled on the "Camping at FW" DIS Board:

https://www.disboards.com/forums/camping-at-disney-world.24/

It always has been a place for all questions Fort Wilderness-related which is why you only have to go two pages back in this thread to go back in time FIVE years. This thread gets LESS views and responses but the Camping Board is more relevant and recent (on an overall basis).

Whether you are staying in a DVC cabin, a tent, a popup, or 5'er RV/travel trailer, the Camping Board is the place to ask questions and get answers to that unique resort like none other at WDW.

Granted, a few Resorts guests have answers to Fort questions but the stats bear out that Fort guests have more/recent answers to Fort questions.

Thank you! I was just searching for something like that.

Tri-Circle-D Ranch facilities, which are open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Guests are free to walk through the area and see the horses, but direct interaction with the animals is restricted due to their service animal status.
Thank you! Is bus always available from MK or only if boat is not running?
Yes bus from MK is available before MK opens thru at least 1 hour after MK closes. The boat has the same hours as the bus.

Note: the bus and boat drop you at different parts of the Ft Wilderness resort. The boat will drop you closest to the Settlement Trading Post and Pioneer Hall. The MK bus will drop you closest to the stables.

ETA: still learning to form proper sentences.

Since you don't know FW, just to avoid any confusion.... FW's Magic Kingdom bus picks up/drops off at the Settlement Depot bus station, which is in Settlement Depot area (Pioneer Hall, boat dock, Settlement Trading Post shopping, etc). Many people use the boats for MK access, the bus is often overlooked as an option. The bus stop and boat dock are circled below.

Buses to other parks (Epcot, DAK, DHS, Disney Springs) pick up/drop off at the "front" of FW which is referred to as the Outpost Depot (basically the exact opposite end of the resort).
