Possible BCV Hot Water Solution

Hello all

Just returned from my first trip home to BCV. We had a great time.

I was concerned with all of the posts about BCV not having any hot water. I'm a hot-shower junky, so I was ready to be disappointed.

I think the problem lies in the fixtures - you have to turn the knob ALL the way counter-clockwise to get to the hot water. If you do this, the indicator is pointing back to 'Cold'. If you just point the indicator to the hottest setting, you get luke warm water.

The water was more than hot enough. If you don't think BCV's have hot water, fill the bathtub with nothing but hot - yeow!

The pressure was a little on the low side (4th floor), but was not a problem at all.

Hope this helps!

You know I never had a problem with the water in the shower, but I wasn't going to argue the point since I am kind of biased about BCV, but now that you mentioned it, when I cleaned the jacuzzi tub, I just used hot water and about burned off my hand, so you are right, it does get very hot!

Grim -

I noticed this too on our trip!!!! They need to rotate the part of the fixture with "hot" and "cold" written on it by 180 degrees for it to read accurately --- although then "hot" and "cold" would be written upside down!!!!

I don't know if they are all that way, but the one in our studio was, as were the two in the model units on the first floor.

Mentioned something to the CM in the model unit and got a blank stare --- should have reported it to maintenance but didn't.

When we stayed there was a mayor difference between the temperature of the HOT water in the tub versus the shower. Tub had great pressure and was HOT, shower was lukewarm at its hottest setting and pressure was just above a trickle.

I bet you that the shower head has a flow restrictor. Next trip, I am going to remove the shower head to see...

We were 3rd floor, studio. The water temp was absolutely, positively,no doubt about it-LUKE WARM. I moved the knob to every possible setting. Even our sink had luke warm water. And the pressure was non-existant. We even tested the water temp at various times of the day & night-no difference.
