If I were able to get a 50 pt. contract, through Disney, should I insist on getting the same resort I now hold a contract for? I have 150 at BWV and worry about such a small contract at another resort. Pros and cons?? Thanks.

With a 50-pt add-on, you could use banking and borrowing to get 150 points to use at a different property every 3 years. I guess if you almost exclusively stay at BWV, you probably want your add-on at that resort, too. But if you have a particular affinity for one of the other properties, it's certainly worth considering the add-on at that resort.

FWIW, you may have to wait a long, long time to get 50 points from Disney for the BWV. As you probably know, BWV is sold out and Disney will only sell you your same use year (unless you want to buy a whole new conract of 150 points or more).

Best wishes -

I own 3 resorts.

I agree, if you really enjoy BWV and that's where you would always want to stay, then add-on there thru DVC or by resale.

If you would like to own at another resort, then 50 points would allow you to have the 11 month window at that resort. Using banking and borrowing you could have 150 pts every other year. You would have restrictions on those points once they are banked and borrowed so you would be in a fix, if you had to cancel that trip. It's workable, but the biggest drawback of banking and borrowing.

If 150 pts meets all your needs at BWV then owning another resort will give you the advantage if you want to have priority booking windows at another DVC.

All excellent points. I've decided to stick with BWV. I've talked to my guide and she has my info. She says to me..."If I were you and more than 50 come up, I would go with 100, but that's your choice. I'll grab 50 unless I hear otherwise." So, now I'm thinking maybe she's right, I should grab 100 if it comes up!! Man, decisions, decisions!!!! If I do buy 100 more, I'll be able to stay in 1-bdrm. all the time. And some times a 2 bdrm. Yikes!!!

I know it's hard to patient...but it should pay off. I called in March to try and add on 50 points at our home resort BW.. Our Vacation Guide was very sceptical that we would be able to do it since it is sold out, but we really love BW and didn't want to mess wth different windows etc.

I got the call about two months later that they had 50 points and we were set to go! We even got in beore the price increase...hooray!

Will be thinking positive thoughts for you!

See you on the Boardwalk!

If she can get you the 100 and you can swing it, I'd go for it. She may look harder for the 100 too.;)

The other resorts (besides SSR) have not gone up in price - they are still $84/point.

I just added on at BWV 2 weeks ago. I got the points within a few days of calling my guide. The longest I have waited for a BWV add on is about 6 weeks. Good luck to you!

Oh and I would go for the 100 if you can swing it!

Oh man, you guys are just not helping me here!!!! If I go with the extra 100 instead of 50, I'll try to travel to WDW all the time!!! But, we'll see what happens. And yep, I'll be paying $84 also.

Heya neighbor! Just FYI, I placed a request for an add-on with my most excellent guide back in February, and she came up with them within a month. I put in a request for 65 BWV points, Feb UY. By the time they came in, we of course wanted more, but the rest of whatever contract they got thru ROFR had already been disbursed, so we settled for 65 more.

Now, I called my guide again in May, and at that time she had a little over 100 BWV points (w/Feb UY) that she could have sold me. Sadly we passed then, but I get the impression that with a good guide, your add-on will come thru at some point.

My advice for a purchase strategy given yor facts: tell your guide that you'd be interested in any amount up-to say 100 (or 50) points, and call back and bug her/ him every week.

Oh, and for simplicity's sake, stick with one home resort, and maximize your reservations power there. Who knows, some time you might even spring for one of those glorious GVs.

Good luck!

We added on 50 points at VWL becaue BWV was sold out and I had no idea about getting on a waiting list, but I haven't regretted it. Once I pooled 2+ years worth of points and stayed there for a whole stay. Once we spent a weekend there after a cruise. Nowadays I generally call at the 7 month window and see if I can switch any portion of it to VWL points (there has to still be availability and there generally is on the weekends) so that I use those up first. In any case it hasn't been nearly as complex as I thought it would be to use those points.
