Possible 2025 trip to DL/LA/D23

If you look at the venues on the LA28 site, they don't list the corporate names. One exception is USC Sports Center. They dropped the fact that it is called Galen Center, but still use USC.

Precisely. That is why if I had to guess, Dodger/Angel Stadium will be temporarily renamed for the duration of the Olympics/Paralympics. Same with Crypto and the new Clippers arena

The new Clippers arena, Intuit Dome, opens today with a Bruno Mars concert!

They haven't announced Dodger Stadium yet. So far, the corporate names that have been removed are SoFi, BMO, Crypto, Dignity Health, and Regal. John C Argue Swim Stadium and Galen Center are named after people whose names were removed. I'm not sure why they needed to remove the names of Marine Stadium, Riviera Country Club or Galway Downs. I don't think any of them are corporate or individuals, but I could be wrong.

All corporate names must be removed per IOC rules. Dodger Stadium is not officially a stadium yet, but might be. The LA Olympics are trying to convince MLB to participate in the games, which requires a complex negotiation between team owners and players. We may not hear formally about Dodger Stadium for a while. If MLB players participate, then the league will take a multi-week break and Dodger Stadium will be available. If MLB does not participate, then Dodger Stadium may not be available for the entire 2 weeks because the Dodgers will be playing regular season games at least a portion of the time at home. If MLB doesn't participate, the popularity also may not be as high and they might use a minor league ballpark instead with a smaller crowd capacity.

The stadium naming changes will also apply to the Paralympics, which take place several weeks after the Olympics. These games will use some, but not all, of the same facilities.

Maybe we should start a new thread about the Olympics. Does a moderator have the ability to move this discussion to a new thread or do we need to start from scratch?

In the past, when events like the Grammys were held at Cryto, the Lakers, Clippers, Kings had to go on extended road trips. I think (not sure) in previous Olympics, baseball took place over six days, They could do some of the early elimination games in Anaheim or San Diego.

Will the pro athletes be able to play on an Olympic team? Can you imagine ticket and merchandise sales if Shohei Ohtani was pitching?

Edit to add: The Paralympics don't draw the same size crowds. Couldn't they use college baseball stadiums for that?
