How about we post some positive stuff on this thread? There's been so much negativity lately (much of it perfectly valid), but there are always "good" things in life as well - even something as small as what your child said to you today; something pretty you saw on the way to work; a great show you watched that made you laugh; a funny joke; your PERFECT hair day; an unexpected kindness shown to you; a kindness you showed someone else; etc..:goodvibes

Let's just try to lighten things up a bit..:thumbsup2

An "old" memory came to me today when I was listening to the radio.. The folks that have been around here for a long time will remember this, but some of the newer posters might get a chuckle out of it.. (I know I do - every single time - years later..)

My adult DD was in the hospital a number of years ago and on the day she was being released, I went to pick her up - with my DGD along for the ride.. I can't remember exactly how old she was - maybe 4? or about to turn 4? - but anyhow, she was in the car seat in the back and I had the radio on.. I'm a big country fan and when one of my favorite songs came on - "Can You Paint Me A Birmingham" - I turned it up quite loud..

When the song was over, DGD called to me from behind and said:

"Grandma, why does that man want someone to paint him a burning ham??" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

To this day, I can't listen to that song without laughing - and have caught myself on several occasions singing "burning ham" rather than "Birmingham"..:lmao:

Hmmmmm positive vibes.....

Well for me personally, after the first two weeks of January being freezing and snowy it has be wonderful having a little bit of sunshine and temps in the 40's.

A friend on FB is now in a relationship and posted a beautiful picture of flowers she received yesterday - I'm very happy for her.

Here is Pittsburgh, two sisters from the area were volunteering at an orphanage in Haiti when the earthquake hit. With a lot of people and agencies intervening on their behalf, this morning one of the sisters returned to Pittsburgh with 54 orphans. There has been lots of local media coverage and it has been pretty special seeing something positive come from so much tragedy. :)

And thanks for posting! :goodvibes

For me (despite problems with confidence) it looks like my Technical operator training is going well. Also the fruit bushes I planted last week are surviving and doing well (21 rasberry canes 2 black current, 2 red current,2 white current and 2 gooseberry bushes)

I went to the oncologist today and he gave me another clear report. Cancer free since May 2006.

That is full of awesome-ness!

Tomorrow, at the age of 33, I will be taking my very first college class!

I talked my wife into another WDW vacation earlier today... :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2It's usually me who has to do the convincing with DH. Oh how I wish one day he'd say "Let's go do a fun Disney trip!" :cloud9:

Kim, great news on your healthy report!:yay:

I made a recipe today for dinner that I love. It reminds me of when I was pregnant with my DD7 and had a lot of health issues, my dear friend and neighbor would make me dinner, mainly this casserole because I loved it so much and I felt so nurtured. Whenever I make it, I think of her and how she took care of me so many times! I haven't seen her in a long time and I miss her, but there's always a little piece of her in her comfort food recipe!

I got an A on my most recent grad school assignment, and lost 1 pound in this past week. :)

Let's see, it hit 70 here in FL today and my DD survived her oral surgery (which she was super anxious about and I'm relieved it's done!).

I've lost a lot of weight and my clothes are about to swallow me whole. I didn't want to invest in a lot of clothes because i still have a significant amount to lose. So I went to the thrift store today and found some workout Tshirts & pants, some jeans and a couple nice blouses for abou $25. But the best part is that I can now get into a size Large, something I haven't seen in about 8 years. In fact, I bought a lovely formal gown for my brother's wedding in Oct 2008; At the time I was an XXL so I bought this dress in a 3X to make sure it fit nicely. Come two days before the wedding I put the dress on to check my hair and :scared1: I can't even zip it! A 3X!!1:sad2: I had to borrow something huge to wear to the wedding. And believe it or not, I went on to gain another 20-lbs after that!!

I know Large is still large, but Dang! I look good!

Awww, poor kid. We just went through that with DD16. She is really phobic about medical stuff, especially IVs and they really had to put her out. She had a rough coupla days but she has done great. I hope your DD recovers quickly with a minimum of distress.

This is all great stuff - really! :thumbsup2

Isn't it nice to think - and talk (type) about some of the things in your life that are good?? :goodvibes

Today was more of the same for me - painting my projects - and really enjoying myself while doing so.. I forgot how much I loved doing crafts.. Who knows? Maybe I'll get back into building bird houses again - then painting and decorating them.. I still have some that I never painted, so that would put me ahead of the game right there..:)

Also had some leftovers for dinner that I froze - my mac & cheese, along with my french-style green beans.. I always feel super good after eating that - LOL.. It's one of my favorite meals..:)

DGD went to the orthodontis today and got a good report.. They were worried about a tooth that wasn't coming down like it should, but everything is A-okay now..:thumbsup2

My son jsut said something so dang funny..before I start I just want to say that we do NOT do drugs of any kind and I know for a fact my son doesn't either...

my son 15 seen a very hot woman on tv..he said "If I woke up in the morning with her in my bed I'd put down what I was smoking and walk away." :lmao:

I have NO idea where he got this..probably school!...

I joined Dave & Buster's Rewards program in December when we went with friends. They've sent me six emails with $10 in free play coupons this month and another B1G1 plus a free appetizer when you buy food or beverage. So last night, I took the girls and DD20's BF for dinner to use them. They played for four hours on the coupons combined with three $10 play cards from our $15.99 eat & play combos. By the time we left, they'd accumulated a combined total of nearly 15,000 tickets too. I ate the free appetizer as an entree and shared DD9's meal so the total bill for the four of us was just $62 for four hours of food & fun.:thumbsup2

Even better though was that DD9 played the big claw game where you get jumbo animals out and pulled two up at once. As the claw dropped them both into the chute, a family with a little girl was cheering her on. DD9 immediately turned around and handed one of the big stuffed dogs to the other girl. They were thrilled, but I was estatic when she turned to me and said "it was only right, I don't need two and they were out of credits." That little kindness put a huge smile on my face and in my heart. Some days things just fall into place when you least expect them...:cloud9:

The sun is coming up right now this morning and it is one of the most beautiful sunrises I've seen in such a long time! The sky is full of stratus clouds that are streaked with bright pinks, oranges and almost a gold color. Peeking through the clouds is a beautiful bright blue. Maybe we'll actually get some sunshine today! It is a great way to start the day!

Dh was trying to continue to teach DD (15months) to say please yesterday. Apparently now she thinks please means mini M&M's. Every time you ask her to say please, she says "peeeeaaaas" and holds her hand out for candy.
