My husband suffered a totally unexpected series of seizures one Friday night in April. He had been expected to chaperone his school's Senior Trip to WDW 5 nights later. When I got home from the ER at 5am, I emailed his principal, told him what was going on, and reminded him that they would need a replacement chaperone. He was scary, seriously, "find the life insurance papers" ill, in ICU for 11 days.
Monday morning at his school, the school chaplain got on the AM announcements and asked the kids to pray for my husband.
Wednesday evening, the night before the Senior Trip, the chaplain and school President arrived at the hospital-- with a check for $4000 to send my family to WDW this summer. The kids, knowing how my husband loves WDW, wanted to make it possible for him to see it this year, even if it wasn't with them. Over the course of about 24 hours, they got permission, went homeroom to homeroom, set up a table in the cafeteria, and collected all that money.
So we're going next week. He's feeling great, hasn't had a repeat seizure since that night, has gotten his voice back after being intubated, and will return to the classroom in September.
