Positive things thread

Both of my daughters were in town for dinner with us last night. That doesn't happen often when you have 20 somethings busy with career, boyfriends and school.

That is indeed good news for a mom's heart!

Completely understand. I just got off the phone after discussing wedding plans with DS 22 for his wedding next year. I treasure the times when all 4 of my kids are home under one roof--happens fewer and farther between now.

All good news is welcome here! That is amazing! Wonder where the kitty has been all this time?

He was given to her when he was a kitten. He and his littermates were feral and found in an old barn, she's never been able to break him of his roaming habit but this was the longest he's been gone. My theory is that some good Samaritan found him, thought he needed help, and took him in (he is old and scruffy looking).

I was watching Jeopardy earlier and my 81 year old mother answered 4 or 5 questions.

She's in the early to mid stages of dementia and has good and bad days and today was a good day. :)

I'm glad you had a good day with her. My grandma had Alzheimer's and I remember how important the good days are.

Me too.

It goes from days, to hours. I remember being so happy when I was fortunate enough to get those small glimpses of her.

My 16 year old, who has had her learners permit for a year, has finally started driving. I drive a big Suburban, Hubby drive a big jacked up 4 door truck, slight learning curve, esp for a new driver who don't know how to drive in the first place.

Tonight she drove me to the Walmart

Last night she drove to the gas station and learned how to pump gas.

One day at a time people

My husband suffered a totally unexpected series of seizures one Friday night in April. He had been expected to chaperone his school's Senior Trip to WDW 5 nights later. When I got home from the ER at 5am, I emailed his principal, told him what was going on, and reminded him that they would need a replacement chaperone. He was scary, seriously, "find the life insurance papers" ill, in ICU for 11 days.

Monday morning at his school, the school chaplain got on the AM announcements and asked the kids to pray for my husband.

Wednesday evening, the night before the Senior Trip, the chaplain and school President arrived at the hospital-- with a check for $4000 to send my family to WDW this summer. The kids, knowing how my husband loves WDW, wanted to make it possible for him to see it this year, even if it wasn't with them. Over the course of about 24 hours, they got permission, went homeroom to homeroom, got the word out online, set up a table in the cafeteria, and collected all that money.

So we're going next week. He's feeling great, hasn't had a repeat seizure since that night, has gotten his voice back after being intubated, and will return to the classroom in September.

It is indeed baby steps! Have a 17 year old boy who wrecked his car less than 2 months after having it. Adding insult to injury, we received the title the day after it was wrecked.

Hope to get it back from the repair shop this week. We'll be back to nervous mom and baby steps as he drives again!

But we'll all get through it.
