Positive AKV comments only please!

Over the last couple of weeks I have been really reading the boards since we leave a week from today for AKV. Although there are some positive comments there are probably 10 times more negative comments posted. So now I'm paranoid about staying there. I absolutely LOVE AKL! That's why we decided to buy our DVC membership at that location. I like that it is slightly removed but yet a part of WDW. Most of all I love the animals and the ambiance of it all.

So, before I have a totally stressed out week, would someone please post all the positive comments you can about our stay in a one bedroom, savanna view room at AKV next week!

Thank you!

:thumbsup2 We will be in a savannah view studio next week. We are planning on doing the live feed of our savannah view if DH can get it working. He tested it out here at home yesterday and it worked fine.

I also love to hear good things - and not just the bad.

We spent Christmas week (Dec. 20-26) in a standard studio. We loved it!!....had a great room overlooking the lobby. Right outside our door was the HUGE Christmas tree!

We loved lounging by the pool & walking over to see the animals whenever we felt like it. The kids loved the food at the Mara & DH spent quite a bit of time at the pool bar!! I spent quite a bit of time in the gift shop!!:thumbsup2

Can't wait!! We're going back for one night before we check into BCV this summer!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Got the suitcases down from the attic and starting to slowly pack the suitcases....quite happily and less stressed. Hopefully I'll figure out how to post pics...better yet DS is bring his computer and if he let's me I could do a live report. :woohoo:

I'll be there with my three children in a couple of weeks. We stayed one night at AKL last June, but that was not enough time to get the true feeling of the resort. We're ending our 2-week trip with 3 nights in a studio. The only concern I have is the studio room after 10 nights in a 1 bedroom, but I figure there is enough activity to keep us out of the room, so it probably won't be a problem! I need to get those suitcases out!!

This has always been our favorite resort. We eat at Bomas even if we are not staying there. Enjoy your trip!

Hi, Penny! I didn't realize you owned at AKV! :)

We LOVE AKL. We stayed at WL last summer and wished we had booked AKL instead. When we decided to buy DVC last month of course we wanted AKV to be our home resort! I have read a few reports that made me a little nervous. But I am trying not to worry about it. If we get there in August and something is wrong we will make sure they fix it. If the buses are bad we'll rent a car (even though we're hoping we won't have to). We will work through whatever issues we have and we'll have a great time. :thumbsup2
My feeling is, how bad can it be? it's Disney
Anyway, We always rent a car as I use an ECV & I hate using the Disney transportation with an ECV. People give you looks and a hard time and run over you to get in front of you. It's easier to have DH drive and unload the ECV. When I go by myself, I try and stay at BW because then I can drive the ECV to MGM and Epcot and do the monorail to MK. The only problem I had was taking the bus to AK so I only went one day. :(
I am sure you will love AKV. :yay:
Take care, Penny:hippie:

We love Animal Kingdom Lodge. We have stayed there about four or five times.

Whats to say. I fell in love with this resort the first time we visited and made up my mind to stay here the next time we visited.

We stayed two weeks over Christmas and loved the decorations. Santa on Christmas Eve. Christmas crafts by the pool on Christmas Eve. Pool games.

We've had savannah rooms and I like them but love the pool view with a view of the flamingos better. :cloud9:

After many years of thinking about the Vacation Club we were looking at the SSR presentation. We talked to the guide and said my favorite resort would be the Animnal Kingdom but its not a time share.

After we purchased August 06 shorty afterward they announced the AKV I was bitter:mad: . But was later told I couldn't be told about AKV since it wasn't announced. I have thought about selling and buying at AKL. I have a feeling it will be hugely more popular then it is now with the new water features at the AKV. I was able to stay Dec 07 with my points and Oct 08 coming up but I may have to buy here just to have the home court advantage.

All in all you will love this resort. The lobby is intimate although huge. The pool is one of the best with zero clearance. Its coloring has a soothing effect kind of brown/green and blends with the trees. :dance3: Great slide and two hot tubs. A few years ago you could see the giraffes eating while in the hot tub. Last Dec the shrubs had grown a bit so we didn't see any.

We love Boma for Breakfast. There are little pods to go up and get food at instead of one huge line. We haven't tried dinner yet but home to in OCT 08 We have eaten at Mara many times and the food is good.

Have a great time and you might just fall in love with the resort too!:cool1:

We LOVE AKV! The only complaints I've ever heard discussed is that it is dark, that it is a hotel and not a dedicated timeshare like OKW or SSR and that it is out of the way. For us...dark is nice, it's cool and soothing and heck...everyone looks better in dim lighting-I don't care who you are! ;) We don't care about it being a hotel, we know this isn't a home, its a timeshare. As far as being out of the way, we love it-and to us its really not as out of the way as some people make it sound.

We love AKV because of the heavy theme. For us its an absolute escape from the daily grind. I don't always get that "escape" feeling when we are at other DVC resorts. You really have to like the decor of course and we do. Love the animals too-we will never get tired of seeing them outside our room. :woohoo:

We stayed there in April...it was great. We had stayed their in a regular room a few years back and were thrilled to be able to stay as DVC members in a 1 BR villa. It was gorgeous, brand new, and sparkling!!!! I love AKV. The animals are just a touch that cannot be found anywhere really in the world...there's nothing like it. The room was a bit smallish if you compare to OKW, but it was really nice and new. The resort overall is a great place to stay and even just visit (the restaurants, gift shop, animals, and resort-watching are awesome there). We like most Disney properties...not huge fans of SSR and value resorts, to give you some perspective.

Have a GREAT trip!
