I read on another post that there is a location at the Grand Floridian that does portraits. The only other information was that they were pretty pricey. Does anyone have any information on this? The name of the place? Do you make reservations? Cost? Are these photographs or are these charcol drawings? Thanks for any help you can give me!

When we were there last month, the lady doing the portraits was in the lobby, off to one side. It appeared to be a step right up situation, $75 oil pastel. The whole time we were there, never saw anyone having theirs done, looked nice though.

We had portraits done at the Grand Floridian. It was $75 per child. They turned out great.

It is located next to the small back stairs as you are heading toward the "back lobby" (like you were going toward the Grand Floridian Cafe) or the Garden View Lounge. You actually pay for the portraits in the Sandy Cove shop.

When we had two done at different times. One of them we had to be put on a list and the artist told us when to come back. The other one we just walked right up.

Check with the artist as to when she will be there. It seems to be different every time we go.

Also, Disney offers professional photography/portraits at many locations throughout WDW including the GF. :wave2:

We had our kids done on one canvas in June by a woman named Catherine. She says someone is on duty from about noon until 9pm. There are several different people that do the portraits, so you never know who you'll get. The price is $75 for each person in color whether on one canvas or two. They will ship if home for you (and they pack the portrait really well) from the shop nearby.

Must the children sit or can the artist draw them from a photo? I am lucky if my two DS stay still long enough for a photo, let alone a drawing!!!

There is a sign that says children under 4 have to be drawn from a photograph. So, take a good one with you just in case.
It took about 30 minutes for each one of ours. My daughter who is 4, fell asleep while sitting for hers!

If you have a great photo, and two kids who won't sit still for that long, I'd say give the artist the photo and pick it up before you leave. I would bet you get a great portrait!

Hi! We just had our daughter's portrait drawn at the GF so hopefully I can help out a little :)

Our artist was Svetlana, and she did a FABULOUS job capturing my dd, even the sparkle in her eye and the pattern of shine to her hair, I couldn't believe it ! I cried when it was done, it was so beautiful.

We went for the 125.00 16X20 portrait (three quarters of the body) because she was all dressed up from the Park Fare dinner.

I took some photos with our webcam (not good quality) and will try to post them on the web soon. We just got our trip photos back and I wanted to put them up to go with my trip reports.

The sitting took about half an hour total, but dd got to wiggle around a bit after her face was done (about 15 minutes). She really did a good job sitting, I was so proud of her :)

I don't know about the other artists, but Svetlana said that for children under the age of five, she'll draw from a photograph. I don't believe you can make an appointment, but in the week we were there, I never saw anyone else get their portrait drawn (I'm sure they did, I just didn't see it LOL) so I wouldn't worry about being able to get in for one.

It was worth every penny, not just the portrait itself but the memory of having it drawn on such a special night. I tipped the artist (she was grateful and seemed surprised, but I just had to) my dad did as well I believe. That portrait is a keepsake I will treasure.

Oh, and she packed it up all nice and safe in cardboard and bubble wrap, it survived the plane trip home no problem! I kept it with me at all times (no overhead compartment!) and it now hangs over our piano. I can't stop looking at it :)

Hope that info helps! If you have any other questions ask away!

If convenient (such as you are staying at GF), I'd visit the different artists and look over their portfolios to see which style you prefer. One artist recommended photos for children rather than sittings.
