Portofino upgrade question

We are Loews gold. Is there a chance that during our vacation in Novemer(the day before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving night) that I could get an upgrade from a queen deluxe to a 1st floor suite? Is there anytime when this is possible?
I'm working really hard to upgrade to platinum .

If you are LF Gold level, you need to CALL the hotel and make your res....because, you ask for the upgrade at TIME OF BOOKING. IF AVAILABLE, you will get it (at time of booking).

Sorry to hear it was during blackout Like you said....May...shouldn't be blacked out..slower time.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the only way you can get a suite upgrade at time of booking was if you were Platinum status.

I know you're going during a black out period, but if you weren't, here's how it works as Gold at the PBH:

You call for your ressie. Tell them you're Gold and want your room upgrade. You pay the AAA or Super Saver rate for a STANDARD GARDEN VIEW ROOM. At the time of reservation, if available, they will upgrade you to a DELUXE ROOM. That is the ONLY Gold upgrade available under LF at PBH.

When you check in, you can ask to be upgraded further to a suite. Under the LF program, they would charge you $35/night to do so as GOLD as long a suite is available when you check-in. So, if you were Gold, and a suite were available upon check in, you would pay the standard room rate + $35 for a Portofino Suite.

Now, since you're going during a black out time and LF benefits do not apply: book whatever room you want and are willing to pay for. Check in early and ask if a suite upgrade is available. If it is, negotiate from there. They may comp you a suite if it's available or they might charge you a nominal fee. However, any upgrade you get would not be part of the LF program. It'll be luck of the draw depending upon whether a suite is available and the mood of the person checking you in. Good luck.
