Portofino Sold Out

So I was checking for the Portofino on 1/16-1/19. Up until a week or so ago it wasn't available to book online. So this past weekend it was finally up online. The only thing showing was rack rate. Today I went to check and it wasn't available anymore. So I started playing around with dates and other days of the week are available. And they had some discounts out as well. All three of the hotels are showing as unavailable online for my dates. So I hoped it was just a computer error for my dates.

I finally decided to call. And they told me the hotel was sold out on my dates! OMG! NOOOOOO! So I asked her to check the individual nights. So my 1st night was available (1/16) But the Thur and Fri were sold out. I asked if there was a convention. She didn't know. "But it is strange because it is a slow time of year normally". Then I asked her to check the other hotels. RPR is available "but only a few rooms".

What is going on?? Does anyone know of a convention going on at all 3 hotels? Taking that many rooms? And if there is a convention, when do they reopen the rooms that don't get booked?

By the way AAA rates are still not out.

I just had the same problem when I called Royal Pacific for April 16&17, 2008. The very nice receptionist even checked the other hotels and different dates and everything is sold out. It's wierd because I've been waiting forever to book this birthday trip

Well maybe it is just a computer glitch??? I hope so. Were you waiting to book your dates because online they weren't showing as available as well? I hope it comes thru!! for both of us!!

I do know of one convention but it's Jan 3-5 and technically it's not being held at the resort. Other than that i don't know what is up

I'll try back later hopefully with better luck, yeah everytime I tried it just stated unavailable online. Even when I adjusted the dates, even changing my dates to president week in feb with no luck. I'm hoping for a computer glitch maybe one of the US/IOA experts knows whats going on. . .
