Portofino Questions

We had the good fortune to plan a three day trip over the Labor Day weekend. We were able to get the PBH with the entertainment rate of $150.00 next weekend (WOW). What can We expect with the hotel and the crowds for Labor Day? We stayed at the HRH last fall.How will the PBH compare to the HRH?

This is our first Labor Day weekend trip too so I can't help you much with crowd questions. As for PBH it will blow you away! It's awesome in design and the shear magnitude of the place is just breath taking! We were just there in July and immediatly planned a trip back. Only difference is no kids this trip. I can tell you the rooms are bigger at PBH from what I understand. Also, I believe from the comments on this board the staff is quite well equipped to handle you on a more personal level at PBH. There are three pools and the beach pool does have a slide. If you can get an upgrade to Del. Pool View these are the best rooms in the hotel without getting upgraded to a suite. Also there in the East Villa which is very,very convience to the beach and villa pools not to mention there is a short cut out to the boat dock. They do have rooms with balconies so you might could ask for that upgrade as well in the bay or garden views. I would suggest asking for a location as near the east vill as possible so your near the boat dock and resturants esp. if you are traveling with your kids. If you have time please sign in our thread "show of hands" for labor day weekend. You'll make 3 that will be at PBH that weekend. Hope to see you on the boat! Hey,

Expect to stay in one of the most stunning and enjoyable hotels ever! When we stayed there for the first time two years ago, we were so AMAZED the minute we entered the entrance in our car! We actually felt OUT OF PLACE because its so beautiful. Words cannot describe it the best, go there and be prepared to be blow away! Everything there is so detailed and perfect that it really makes you wonder why you would pay $150.00 to stay at a Disney Moderate? When comparing Portofino Bay Hotel to the Grand Floridian at WDW, PBH wins by a looooooooooong show. Unlike at the Grand Floridian where you feel as though you have to look or act a certain way, at the PBH you can just be yourself and do whatever you like.

We just made a return visit to PBH August 7-9 and we were so dissapointed for the shortness of our stay. Next time we said less Disney, more Universal!

PS- Did you get a standard room or deluxe pool view? Also do you have a Loews First card? If you do you most likely will get upgraded!

PBH is a deluxe hotel. The restaurants are very good but expensive (as you'd expect in a deluxe hotel). I agree it compares favorably to GF.
