Portofino or Cabana Bay Family Suite

I see now when I go to aaa.com from home it is the SD site. When I booked from work I did a search for Aaa and clicked on the general site and booked from there. Maybe clear your cookies and your history and try it thru a search engine? If not, come on over! :)

I will definitely subscribe to mouse savers for the Undercover Tourist link. Thanks for the tip!

thought you had to input your zip code to book travel on AAA (a pop up appears to input the zip before you can proceed & directs you to local agency for pricing)? regardless, it a great rate, enjoy.

AAA Carolinas doesn't give any discount. If you go to their site and put in a trip, it's the same price as doing it through Loews/Universal with rack rate.

So different aaa have different prices? I'm in NC and I tried the same dates as OP and was given a price of $274 a night for RPH. I didn't see anything that showed advanced booking prices. There were advanced booking prices for hotels that were not on property but none of the Universal hotels had advanced booking prices. Very strange. We are going the exact same dates as OP and would love to get two rooms for the aaa price they got. I even had a TA from aaa give me a quote and it wasn't anywhere near what OP got. Guess I live in the wrong state.

Just checked AAA Arizona.

$162.00 a night for a Standard Water View room with 2 Adults / 2 Children at the RPH 6/14 - 6/18

$313 is best rate at PBH or HRH

I'm in Ohio, and the best rate I've seen is $198 / night (including taxes, prepaid, using tesslor's dates for mid June).

I cleared my cookies and tried googling AAA Ohio, and got the same rate. So, it doesn't appear to be cookie-related.

I then logged out, tried AAA South Dakota, and got the same rate ($162 / night, taxes included) that tesslor did (but it didn't give me that rate on two rooms, just one - when I tried two rooms, rates shot up).

So, it appears that AAA offers different rates in different states. I've never really paid attention to the fact that my AAA card is from Ohio rather than some other state - the reservation forms do require you to enter your membership number (which I tried & it didn't reject it, but I didn't finish the reservation). I wonder if you can book from one state with a card from another? If so, it appears that it would be worthwhile to "shop around" different AAA sites and see what you get.

I actually booked the 2 rooms separately because of this.

Just an FYI, I didn't enter my AAA number at checkout because I didn't have it with me at the time and both reservations went thru just fine.

When looking at the different room rates available for my dates I noticed that some of the rates say that it is a AAA rate and some do not. The $162 a night rate is not listed here as a AAA rate, so perhaps it doesn't matter?

I can confirm this deal as well. We are going June 13 - 20 and I was able to go through the SD AAA website and get the same rate ($162). Booked for the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando Standard Room with water view

HOWEVER - this rate is all triggered by checking in on 6/14. If I chose any other check in date it defaulted back to $238 per night. I could stay pretty much as long as I wanted and still get the $162 rate but not check in any sooner than 6/14. Once the reservation is in the system I will just call and see if I can add the night before directly (even if I pay the higher rate for that one night) or just stay at a cheap place somewhere else for that one night since it will be the night we arrive and will only be looking for a place to sleep and nothing else.

I can also confirm that this rate did not have the AAA symbol next to it nor did it require a membership # to book it (all the other rates I was quoted had the AAA symbol next to them). I do have a pending charge on my Amex for the reservation. It shows as $972 charged to MACTRIP and $1.11 charged to Travel Syndication Technology LLC. Seems odd but I will keep an eye on it just in case. I also have until 6/9 to cancel this reservation with no fees just as the OP mentioned.

Thanks to everyone here we saved a bunch of money on the hotel.

EDIT 2/9 - Well I was able to call today and add a day to the front end of our trip so it will be 6/13 - 6/20 at RPR for $162/night standard room with a water view.
