We will be in Anaheim 12/17-12/24 staying at Portofino Inn. Anyone have a review of this hotel? Is it close enough to walk or would shuttle be better? I've tried to access their website but keep getting a "look again later" type message. I think they have free breakfast included, but have looked into so many places I forget what is offered at Portofino. Any info is appreciated!!

It is definitely within walking distance. You just walk up S Harbor, cross Katella and there will be a path to Disneyland in the middle of the block.

I'm interested in information on the Portofino as well. My DD's dance group will be staying there this summer. When I looked at the website, I believe it said there is a restaurant on site and kids eat free...I don't remember seeing mention of a continental breakfast. I would love to get any info anyone has.

Hello,
I stayed at the Portofino Inn a couple of years ago. They had a nice room and was within walking distance of the parks. However, after a full day in the park, you might want to purchase the shuttle tickets offered by the hotel, they can be helpful getting back at night and during the day if you want. It looks really pretty on the outside. The pool isnt the best I have seen. The beds are average. Right next to a restrant. I dont remember the price of the food but i am sure it is reasonable. Overall, it is a good hotel. My personal preference is the best western park place inn or the dessert inn anaheim. they are right across the street and very well priced. it is closer and the same quality of rooms. that would be my suggestion. BUT the portofino is a very nice hotel

I just got back from the Portofino last night. I have to say that we won't be going back. This was our third or fourth stay there and it was a disappointment. It smelled strongly of mildew, it was the bedding. The wallpaper in the bathroom was water-stained and cut. They didn't refill our coffee from the previous morning and they took so long to bring extra towels that my husband had to get them himself. The front desk staff was less than friendly. In general, I wouldn't recommend this place.
As far as the Kids Eat Free thing, that applies to if you eat at the Jolly Roger restaurant next door. There is no breakfast of any kind provided.
As far as walking distance is concerned, it is two city blocks from the entrance. It's your call on your endurance level. We walked it and were fine. It's harder after a full day in the parks, but still not bad. You can always purchase the shuttle passes when you get there if you decide against it.
I hope this helps...I am sorry I don't have a more glowing review.

Oh great...I don't think I'd be able to convince my DD's dance teacher to stay somewhere else....I really wish she would at least look into a place that had a breakfast.

Thanks for the info on the Portofino. Our first trip to DL ever and that's where we're staying. I certianly haven't read any "glowing" reports, but how much time do you really spend in the hotels anyway, right?
I am wondering though, if I call ahead to the hotel and tell them some of thie things Ive read, any chance my trip might start off on a better foot? Thanks for any help!
