I haven't seen much on the boards about this hotel; has anyone stayed here?

I know it's further to walk from our other choice (Desert Inn), but we don't have any children and don't mind walking a little further, if need be. And, I know they don't do breakfast, but we're planning on a lot of character breakfasts since this is our first trip; we couldn't pick any to kick out. ;)

I'm specifically interested in one of the 2-bedroom suites (with a living room.) The reviews on Trip Advisor are pretty good, but I was hoping to see if any DIS'er had any personal experience.

I would be interested to hear what people say about this hotel too. Is it clean, how is the service? The suite thing is great, I love not sharing sleeping space with two kids.

We stayed there I believe in December 2008. I don't remember. If it wasn't December it was October...

It was very nice! It was clean, the staff was super friendly and we enjoyed our stay...

We didn't walk to the parks, we drove, but we did see people walking and the walk didn't look too far..

We just got back a few days ago and we stayed here. This was our second time at the hotel and we like it.

Our kids are 3 and 5 so we get the suite with a king bed and then a room with bunk beds for the kids. The rooms have a sliding door betwen them with curtains. Each room has a TV and the kids room has a microwave and fridge.

It's older but it was clean and everything worked. Staff was very friendly during our 3 days.

My only complaint is you have to pay for wireless internet acsess in your room; 9.00 a night.

We walked each day, kids included, with no problems. It took us 10-15 minutes each time to get from our room to the inside of Disneyland. Normally 10 minutes in the mornng and 15 at night because we'd already been walking all day.

We'd stay there again.

Are the rooms/decor nice?

We've got it narrowed down between this one and the Desert Inn & Suites. I know Desert is closer, but we're 4 adults that enjoy walking, so that's not an issue. I know Portofino does not have a breakfast either, but I've been told not to rely on the Desert Inn because their continental breakfast isn't much. The cost of rooms is right at a $50.00 difference; I know there are nicer suites in the area, too, but these 2 are the ones in our budget.

So basically, it really comes down to which hotel is nicer; I know that sounds trivial, but my parents are so used to moderate/delux hotels at WDW. Since we're surprising them with this trip after everything they've done for us, we want it to be absolutely wonderful.
