Portobello Yacht Club Refurb?

Don't want to panic any DISbrides using this as their reception location, as I've never been to the PYC before, but is this just an asthetic refurb or will it be closing for good???

It's just a spruce-up. It doesn't sound like they're even going to close the restaurant to do it - maybe just work on sections at a time.

OMG, what a way to scare a gal out! I was worrying a bit there when I saw the renovations, but I sent an email out to my event co-ordinator, and I am sure he will clarify that there will be no impact.

Does anyone know what date its due to start being refurbished? My weddings on November 5th.

Well, that sucks! I heard back from the event planner, and he confirmed that they will be closing all private areas for my wedding date of November 4th! I thought I had everything settled, now I have no reception place!

Oh well, back to the drawing board...

He didn't say if everything was closed, but he did say the Rose garden corridor and the Rose Garden Patio will be closed. I have sent him another email asking if the whole restaurant will be closing, and when this will happen.
Did you reserve a private space for your reception?

I had a reservation for 1900 Park Fare but have decided to change as i've heard its quite noisy and not an ideal location for our wedding meal. We decided just to have a meal in the main Portbello Yacht club restaurant. Somewhere out the way though. I just don't want it to look like its being renovated - If you know what i mean (e.g builders, scaffolding and lots of mess).

We ate at Portobello YC last night. We started talking to the waiter about Pleasure Island closing. We asked him about the restaurant. He said they will be closing at the end of September for about a week or so for refurbishing. He said there will be a soft opening but call ahead.
