We just got home yesterday from another perfect stay at Portifino! I am working on my trip report but wanted everyone to know that room 1544 in the east wing is incredible! It had a huge balcony - top floor and close to the elevator. We ate the breakfast buffet every morning at Trattoria and had the dinner buffet there Saturday night- it was great!
The parks were crowded but the longest wait we had with FOTL was 10 minutes.
I just got off the phone and have reservations for a Villa pool view scheduled to arrive August 3rd. I LOVE this place!

Welcome Back!

We also love the Portofino. Can't wait to read your trip report.

It really makes you feel like you are a world apart doesn't it?

Thanks Goofy!
It is exactly that Damo - a world apart. Not sure if you are familar with autism or not but it's a pretty hard day to day life. Finding Portifino was a life saver for us. It is one of the first places we have been that our son has completely relaxed and enjoyed himself. My husband said he just feels the wieght of the world falling off him when we drive up to the resort. Everyone we have encountered there have been incredibly nice to us. My son has had a lot of "firsts" here. He is sitting down for a complete meal here in the resturants and that is extremely hard for an autistic child. He is extremely sensory oriented and for the first time he is wearing hats, sunglasses etc..doesn't sound like much but for us it is huge. He is sleeping through the night here- 9 or 10 hours and usually he will sleep 3 to 5 hours at a time. I wish we could live here!:rotfl2:

We have reservations at Mamma Dellas for the night we arrive and have a beach pool cabana reserved for the next day - Saturday.
We have Villa pool view - deluxe room - ground floor / patio reserved- anyone have any experience with this view? Has anyone ate at MammaDella's - or Bice? Thanks for any advice!!

Also our favorite. Not sure where that room is, but I like the West wing the most because it's closer to the pool. The restaurants at the PBH close early, so you have to go early or end up at CityWalk.

What is offered at the breakfast buffet at the PBH?

Thanks Goofy!

Was it your son who loves the staircases?

Sounds like you had a wonderful stay :goodvibes We will be there at the same time, we check in Aug 1 - 6th. :cloud9: :)

Another great stay dsmom! I am so glad your family found PBH, it sounds like such a blessing for you.:)

My family frequents Mama Della's often and have always been pleased. I get the feeling Bice may be on its way out in the neat future based on occupancy and less than rave reviews.

I have had many stays in a villa pool-view deluxe with a balcony. The location is great and we enjoy the patio very much. Your bay-view room sounded very nice too! I have yet to stay in the east wing!

I also really enjoy breakfast and dinner on the piazza at Trattoria del Porto. The entire atmosphere at PBH is very relaxing and pampering.:thumbsup2

Enjoy your next stay!

What is offered at the breakfast buffet at the PBH?

Aside from the buffet you can order off the menu for less hearty appetites. The buffet has pancakes, waffles, omelets to order, bagels, toasts, muffins, bacon, sausage, danish, cold cereals and hot oatmeal, scrambled eggs and lots of fresh fruits. It includes coffee, tea and fresh squeezed juices! They have a children's and adults $.

If you eat there eat outside, weather permitting.

Hi Cass- we should meet up while we are there!

Fan2CSkr- We ate the breakfast buffet every morning. I had the omelet and it was great! They also have the best strawberry yougart and the fresh berries are incredible. We did the dinner buffet one night and my son had SIX servings of prime rib! My husband suspected the same thing about Bice- it was empty every night we were there. It's a shame because it is in a beautiful location. We wil stick with Mama Della's for the first night- we have never tried it before.

My husband printed up some pictures from our trip last night and at 3 a.m. this morning our son comes in with a picture of the resort and says "time to get going!

My son does that too! He'll ask "is Unibersal open today?" and when I tell him yes, he runs to his room and begins to throw clothes on his bed to pack. If I tell him we can't go because "mommy's broke" he tells me to go to the bank and they will give me the money lol

Hi HollyGoheavy! That's a cute name your son came up with! My husband drilled it into our son's head so many times that we were going to Universal - not disney that he thinks the name of Universal is "not disney!" We ask him where we are going or where he wants to go and he answers "not disney.":rotfl2:
