Porter or Westjet

Westjet just changed our flight time to the 7:30 am flight (ughhhhh). We are flying from YYZ and Porter is also an option. Has anyone taken Porter to MCO? I hate turbulence so I am unsure about the smaller aircraft but wondering if it is worth trying?

Any pros/cons are appreciated!

Porter's new planes are wonderful. They are configured 2x2 seating. It's the same size Air Canada uses for flights from YOW to MCO. I didn't notice any more or less turbulence with Porter, I've flown WestJet and Air Canada in the past. The most important factor these days for me is reliability and flights per week.

I know we weighed the pros and cons of staying with WJ after dh had a business trip that wasn't arranged by him and included A full trip on Porter.

He was IMPRESSED with Porter. He found the flight great, Seats were roomy, had wifi the whole trip every leg of this trip, no delays or problems - whole others in their group who flew with WJ had nothing but problems. Some of the group ended up driving from Boston back to Toronto because of the delays and cancellations of their flights with WJ.

If it wasn't for the fact that we are silver tier with WJ - and also that Porter doesn't fly out of city - and it's a 4.5 hr drive to the next city that Porter flies out of - we would be switching.

WJ isn't really an option from YOW any more and I would choose Porter over AC. We flew Porter in March, and AC in December, I preferred Porter. Didn't notice any turbulence to be honest, and kiddo is very susceptible to it.

WestJet did that to us on Wednesday! I took advantage of it to lengthen our vacation by adjusting our flights for free — instead of hundreds of dollars in fees.

From YYZ, AirCanada would also be an option. They operate larger planes than Porter on that route, and fly more often to MCO than Porter... So, if there is a flight delay or cancellation on AirCanada, you have a chance of being rebooked on another flight the same day... Porter is about 1x day out of YYZ so on a same day cancellation, next day it probably is to make it to your destination. I could go on and on but I have dealt with "irregular operations" on Porter and it is not a pleasant experience. AC has always gotten me from point A to point B in a timely manner... and this is flying over 100x times per year.

As for turbulence, the A320/A321 are usually a tad more stable and comfortable than the E95 than Porter is using...but not a huge difference

When I rebooked our December flights that WestJet changed, I noticed the seat selection fee had really increased!

I am happy WJ, Porter and AC haven't gotten as bad as United with all this stuff. I recently booked a flight. Headline price for United was like 1700 but when you added in seats, luggage etc the price was almost 2600. AC was all in like 2300 and Qantas was 2400.
